BASKETBALL ***RELEASE: Ejim Named to Team Canada for Paris Olympics***

Iowa State Media Relations

TORONTO - Former Iowa State men's basketball player Melvin Ejim has been named to Team Canada for the Paris Olympics. Ejim is a member of the 12-person team that will compete in the Paris Olympics, which will take place July 26-Aug. 11.

Ejim is the third former Iowa State men's basketball player to qualify for the Paris Olympics. Tyrese Haliburton is a member of the USA Men's National Team and George Conditt IV is a member of the Puerto Rico National Team. Haliburton and Conditt IV played together at Iowa State in 2018-19 and 2019-20, while Ejim was at Iowa State from 2010-14.

As part of Group A, the Canadian men will face Greece on July 27, Australia on July 30 and Spain on Aug. 2 in the first round of the Olympic tournament. The 5-on-5 Olympic basketball group phase will take place in Lille, France, before the tournament moves to Paris for knockout and medal rounds.

This won't be the first time Ejim has represented Team Canada. In July 2013, he played for the Canadian national team at the World University Games, where he averaged eight points and four rebounds per game. In July 2015, he was named on the Canadian national team roster for the Pan American Games. He also played at the Tuto Marchand Cup and FIBA Americas Championship in 2015. In 2016, he represented Canada at the FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament and was a member of Team Canada last summer at the FIBA World Cup, where Canada took home the bronze medal.

FOOTBALL ***Iowa State's Big 12 Media Day players talk favorite stadiums & college jerseys***

My 17-year old son Connor traveled with me to help out a bit yesterday. Being quite a few years younger and much more hip than his old man, he connected with each of the four Iowa State players in attendance briefly for a fun feature on where their favorite stadiums were to play and top college football team jersey combinations.

Trump challenges Biden to man on man debate this week.

Trump has offered to help Biden recover from his horrible position. He has offered to debate this week, just man to man , no moderator.

Trump has also challenged Biden to a round of golf, and will give 1 M to Bidens choice of charity if he wins.

Their is absolutely no way that Biden can do either one.

Trump giving speech in front of thousands of people that love him tonight. Is there anyone on earth that gives a sh#t about Biden, or any other Democrat?

FOOTBALL ***Big 12 Media Days - Tuesday session***

I'm all settled in at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for day one of Big 12 Media Days. This is Iowa State day, so we'll have access to CMC & ISU players Beau Freyler, Jayden Higgins, Jaylin Noel and JR Singleton later in the day. CMC's formal press conference from 1:20-1:35 (local time) should be televised along with the others throughout the day. Maybe ESPNU or most likely on ESPN+.

Coaches and players from TCU, Kansas State, Cincinnati, Texas Tech, Utah, Arizona State, and Oklahoma State are here today.

I'll be posting updates throughout the day in the thread below.

Tyler Perkins NIL t-shirt promo benefiting Ames schools

I got forwarded this message from Tyler’s dad and wanted to share…

Tyler has decided to give all profits to the Ames School District lunch voucher program, in an effort to help curb a growing problem. Last year alone, in the first 1/4 of the school year, more than $15,000 of vouchers were given to help feed the youth, (children and teens) in the Ames School district.

When the focus should be learning, some children still go to school hungry and find themselves thinking about where and when they will eat next. Lets please pull together and help with a growing problem that can be so easily reversed.

Scotus rulings are amazing.

Lots going on this week with Biden self destructing, and now SCOTUS rulings (with more to come).

SCOTUS rules that the obstruction law used to charge most of the Jan 6 participants was incorrectly applied, that it was a law put into place to prevent the physical destruction of evidence (Enron Case). Likely many of the Jan 6 cases will be completely changed if not dismissed. Just obstructing a congressional proceeding doe not = destroying physical records.

Then they rule on the Chevron law, which was from 40 years ago, that allowed government agencies to "interpret vague laws made by congress" . This policy effectively created the 4th branch of government. SCOTUS just eliminated most if not all the law, so government agencies must only act upon specific law and not "interpret" what needs to be done. This means that government agencies (democrats) just had a sledge hammer taken to their power structure. Unelected administrators do not have the right to create law. Congress must make very specific laws, and not just pass the buck to agencies. For example, you can not have a government agency make some rule that gas stoves are banned (yes they did just try this). It would take an act of congress to do this. This is HUGE, this is a direct attack on democrats(the deep state). It takes a whole lot of power away from these agencies. Needless to say, democrats are pissed.

Iowa easy schedule, again?

Just looked at Iowa's schedule and Second Take's predicted finish of teams in the Big 10. Yes, they do play Ohio State at Ohio State. But according to this prediction their next two toughest opponents are Nebraska and Wisconsin. Both predicted in the middle of the pack but in the upper half. Both of these games are at Kinnick. All their other B10 opponents are predicted to be in the lower half of the conference. They do not play Oregon (2), Penn State (3), Michigan (4) or USC (6) who along with OSU (1) and Iowa (5) are predicted at the top. How to they get schedules like this year after year?

Wheels up to Las Vegas!

Gonna be a great next three days in Sin City. This afternoon is Team USA basketball practice and a Tyrese Haliburton media availability. Hope to get him off to the side as well for a one-on-one.

Tuesday is Iowa State’s turn at Big 12 football media days, then Wednesday is the Team USA/Team Canada exhibition game. I’m hoping to get Melvin Ejim for a few minutes afterwards.

Recruiting Rankings

I could give a sh** about recruiting rankings.
We beat TX with all their 4 and 5 star players!

Performance on the field is what counts. Even with our low ranked classes, we are still looked at as a contender for the title. Those who know the staff understand we find and sign undervalued recruits.

This year is gonna be a surprise on the good side of things because of our o-line. We WILL move the ball.

CAL, UCLA and others travel reality starting to hit

This article has a couple different tallies, but both Cal & UCLA will fly over 20,000 miles this season.

As someone who has flown a lot over the years, I'm just sayin'...this is going to wear on the kids, staff's, etc.

Being in the middle of the country isn't so bad....

And...just wait until hoops road trips are added up....
