Analytics and season ticket pricing

Missouri Athletic Department is raising their season ticket prices and donation levels on the order of 50 to 100 percent. The student sections are about the only ones being spared. SEC TV money is not close to enough needed to compete in that conference. A statement from the Athletic Department summarizing how they got there:

“This is a data-driven approach that is keeping the end goal in mind: Helping simplify our structure and grow our revenues so we can win at the highest level in the SEC and share memorable Mizzou Moments together.“

BASKETBALL ***RELEASE: KU’s Dickinson, Mayo, ISU’s Jefferson Selected For Big 12 MBB Weekly Honors***

Big 12 Media Relations

Kansas’ Hunter Dickinson (player) and Zeke Mayo (co-newcomer) plus Iowa State’s Joshua Jefferson (co-newcomer) were voted for Big 12 men’s basketball weekly awards for games ending December 15.

Dickinson had 21 points, 14 rebounds, eight assists and no turnovers in the Jayhawks’ 75-60 win over NC State, becoming the first player in Division I since at least 1996-97 to post that stat line or better in a single game. The center from Alexandria, Virginia had his 53rd career double-double in the game, while shooting 9-of-13 from the floor. The eight assists marked a career high for the graduate student in sports management, as he was named Big 12 Player of the Week for the third time this season and sixth time overall.

Jefferson averaged 16.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists while posting a 10-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio in a pair of Cyclone wins. The Las Vegas native scored 19 points with 10 rebounds, seven assists and no turnovers in the 89-80 win at Iowa, becoming the first Big 12 player with that stat line or better, before Dickinson joined him less than 48 hours later. The forward followed with 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists in Sunday’s 83-51 win over Omaha. It is the second consecutive newcomer honor for the junior pre-liberal studies major.

Mayo had a game-high 26 points in the KU win over the Wolfpack, going 9-for-14 from the field. The senior from Lawrence, Kansas went 5-for-9 on 3-pointers, matching a season-high for treys. It is the second time the guard who transferred from North Dakota State reached the 20+ point plateau this season, joining a 21-point effort against North Carolina, and he has captured Big 12 Newcomer of the Week each time.

Love this team's potential over past years

To this point in the season, what I love about this team, and what is a real improvement over the past few years, is how multifaceted they can be. We have bigs who can actually drive offense. If a Tamin or Gilbert is off, a Jones or Milan can make shots. Teams can not shut down one guy anymore and disrupt our offense. Offense is flexible and can change to what a team is giving us. We can go deep on the bench and spell guys keeping legs fresh. Everyone committed to D. I have also really come around on Heise. I was pretty down on him early this year and I should just trust TJ. He is a good sized body, plays D very well and can score. Great complimentary player. This team is tough to stop for a full game. Last night was a grind it out, workman like won. Just keep sticking with the plan. The distribution of points shows how many options the team has.

Is the SEC replacing the Big 12 as toughest MBB conference?

Alabama and Auburn both beat Houston, Auburn beat us, Baylor lost to Tennessee, but beat Arkansas, which is no better than a middle of the pack SEC team, IMO, and everyone in the Big 12 now has at least one loss, except for BYU and Cincinnati, who have both played no one yet, and Kansas. BYU is about ready to finally play someone of note when they take on No. 23 Ole Miss Thanksgiving Day.
