Biggest College Basketball Star

So, I’m sick of hearing local sports talk types talk about the great and transcendent Caitlin Clark. But the one thing that is really hard to listen to is how she is easily the biggest star in college basketball, men’s or women’s. The whole transcendent thing is weird but then they want to anoint her a media superstar that is a bigger story than any other female or male player, I shake my head a bit. Admittedly, she gets a lot of attention but what are your thoughts on all this?

NCAA pay per round

I didn't realize the ncaa paid out to 6 years after for each unit or win. That adds up to a lot of money. With 5 teams winning in the first round plus the 2 units for WV and ISU qualifying that's a good chunk of change.

So the big 12 already has 12 units? I am probably getting something wrong here.

Anybody know what the payout is per unit this year?

Last years was 338,000 per unit each year for 6 years.

Getting some feedback on Greensboro

and the area around the arena from some buddies that are down there. Let's just say they are less than impressed by the restaurant/bar options that are available. One of them said, "You remember that sketchy area we walked through on the way to the Camping World Bowl? Well, this is significantly worse." Ruh roh. Let's hope the environment & outcome are better inside the arena.

Kayden Fish to state final

Kayden Fish’s Staley squad advanced to the Missouri Class 6 Final with a 68-42 win over Jackson this morning. Team is very balanced with three guys going Division 1 next year. The other two headed to Indiana State and Colorado State. They also have a 6’7” soph who looked pretty good.

Was not a big stat day for Fish. He did guard one of Jackson’s better players. Final tomorrow at 2:00. It can be seen on MSHAA.tv, but will cost you $15.75. Also during the ISU WBB game.

One Shining Moment

I am watching One Shining Moment for each year since they've been doing it. It's on the March Madness app. I've been looking for Iowa State clips of course. It's gets tedious listening to the song over and over, but the memories of the tournament are fun to watch. Commercial breaks are welcome as it is a long program.

There are a lot of memories of teams that have had their moment in the limelight. Some programs have been there forever, others a short run of glory and others their one time on the big stage. Some of the great coaches that have lead programs that have been there forever are now under new leadership and their future may not live up the the past. A lot of coaches look a heck of a lot younger in some of these clips. So many great coaches have come and go for many of these teams, I can't begin to name them without leaving out more than I could name.

Watching this made me realize that Tim Floyd was hired at Iowa State almost 29 years ago. Are you kidding me? How could it have been that long ago? A lot of brackets have come and gone in that time.
