Some Football Recon

My source's source regularly attends practice.
As always ,you are free to disregard. It is not from my eyes.

Easily the best recruiting class of the Campbell era.

You will be able to see the difference in the OL by the end of the first quarter.
Clanton is well worth the investment.

It may take until mid season to sort out the quarterbacks.

Running back is our STRONGEST position GROUP.
Norton is great. Nobody got to see that last year.
Both freshmen are STUDS.
Samu will play a lot.

Brahmer is just too good to keep off the field at TE.

Sadowsky is much better than Mike Rose as a freshman. Bigger, Stronger. Probably faster.

Orange is the best nose we have had in forever.

Malik Verdon will play in the NFL.

Team is quite a bit better, but will be so young that mistakes may leave us with the same type of record.
Source is much more upbeat on the team this year. Big talent jump. But it is in the freshmen.
Said last year was gonna be tough preseason. I didn't really take note well enough then.

Campbell has changed to a Andy Reid practice regimen.
Longer sessions in pads. More hitting.
Less soft stuff.

Seriously, who is Iowa State University graphic design scholar Paul Bruski?

Is there anything anymore that can’t be twisted into an “offensive” symbol?

I’m leaning toward the “I’m not sure I want my kids going to ISU in a few years, unless it’s vet school side” of the fence these days.

The Trenches - UNI Lines By the Numbers

FWIW. I've been numbed by the Hurricane Idalia chatter so I thought I'd look into the stats on the UNI lines. After all, games are usually won or lost at the LOS. My source is the UNI roster on their website. If they've release a two-deep I hadn't seen it prior to running these numbers.

Offensive Line

They show 19 players ranging in weight from 250 to 338 pounds. They have 8 players listed at #300+.

Average height is 6' 5". Average weight is 288.5 pounds.

3 Freshman, 4 Redshirt FR, 9 Redshirt Soph, 2 Redshirt JR, 1 Redshirt Sr.

Defensive Line

They show 16 players ranging in weight from 208 to 317 pounds. Only 1 player listed at +300.

Average height is 6' 3". Average weight is 222.3 pounds.

5 Freshman, 2 Redshirt FR, 3 Redshirt SO, 1 Redshirt JR, 3 Redshirt SR and 2 Grad. One of the "Grads" is Corderius Bailey @ 6'3", 243 (remember him?) and the other is a K-State transfer Carter Crook-Jones @ 6'4", 270.

Now the old saying goes; "It ain't the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog." Or something like that.

Haven't done a similar review of our Clones but think we have to be appreciably "bigger". Both teams have to play in the same heat. We SHOULD be a deeper team (more schollies). We have their former OL coach (who I thought did a pretty good kob for them.)

Thoughts?

Side note - The hurricane panic is setting in here in JAX. At present we are on the edge of the "cone of influence". But it all depends on the track of the eye and how big the cone gets, especially before landfall. I just wish it would peter-out in the Gulf. They aren't any fun for anyone.
