Big XII tournament issues

I’ve been going to this tournament for a long time. The last 2 years I have a couple complaints

1. Mobile tickets- There are too many parties involved. AXS is a total cluster. Why T Mobile chooses to use a third/fourth party app is a mystery. It just complicates things. Last year and this year I have not received my tickets before the game started. Last year I bought ISU/ Houston tickets through Stubhub and never received my tickets at all. Had to go to the ticket window and buy different tickets in a worse location well after the game started. I did get refunded by Stubhub.
This year, I went to the games Friday night. (BYU/Houston and TTech/ Arizona) I bought tickets on SeatGeek an hour before the games started. Purchased was confirmed but waiting to be “fulfilled”. That means tickets had to be sent to AXS and then they need to send me an email when they are ready. There must have been a total failure as hundreds of fans were standing in outside T-Mobile because tickets weren’t transferring into AXS or they kept getting errors trying to log in to AXS. The lines were very long when I got in line about 5:55. Of course they only had 3 ticket windows open. Problems continued well after the game started. Some got lucky and their tickets went through finally, well after games were underway. BYU fans were pissed. I would have been really pissed if ISU was playing. I was 6:20 before I got to the window and stated my problem which was very similar to everyone else’s. Had seats in Sec. 108. Lower level. Lady hands me tickets for Sec 230. Upper deck. BS. I used those tickets to get in the door and sat where I bought tickets. Missed half of the first half. I’m not sure where the issues are happening but pretty sure it’s a problem getting tickets into AXS. I never have problems when I buy tickets though Stubhub and Seatgeek other places as the tickets go straight into your account. The extra step using AXS is very dumb and unnecessarily complicates things. If they can’t handle the load, it’s time to change. Sorry that was long.

2. Restaurants in/around Power and light stop serving food at 10 pm or even close at that time. There are games that last til 11 pm and thousands of fans coming out that want to eat. Staying open for food should be a requirement. The main bars in the covered area do serve some food later but not big menus. Had to eat at Johnny’s Thursday night. Friday night had to leave the TTec/ Arizona game early to make it to Yardhouse before kitchen closed at 11 pm. Other big places like Gordon Ramsey’s BRGR close at 10 pm, onna Friday night. I just don’t get it. They are located there because of events at T Mobile. They should have to stay open longer to feed people after events as part of their lease.

Reagan National plane crash

The Saab seems to be the plane ISU uses, the few random times I check.
**MOVED FROM ISU CONFIDENTIAL

I realize this is going off on a tangent but air travel has been completely routine until a tragic accident happens as it did in DC last night. The US women’s figure skating team was on the flight that collided with the helo and went into the Potomac. There were no survivors.

OT - Bowen Born

With our unceremonious exit from the Dance this year we got a bit behind on watching other tournament games. We're just watching CSU / Maryland this morning.

It's been said many times here that Bowen Born was too small and slight to play at ISU. Seeing how he performed against Maryland makes me wish we would have had him in the game against Ole Miss. Our walk-on guard wasn't up to the task, Lipsey belonged on the bench and our scorers seemingly had stage fright until a comeback could only make the final score less lopsided.

ISU Football Postseason Fan Survey From AD

Many of you ticket holders/purchasers may have gotten or will get a postseason satisfaction survey from the athletic department, as I did. There are no specific questions about beer sales, but there is an open-ended response opportunity at the end. Please consider adding something to the affect of, “Please consider selling some beer to benefit athletes and facilities.” Thank you.

FOOTBALL Awesome quote from Taylor Mouser out of today's media availability

He's always full of great soundbites, but this was one of his better ones. The part about the confetti in the office is great.

On how much a win in the bowl game has helped catapult the program into the offseason:

“I think it was interesting for me to see, because this new recruiting schedule, we were gone all January, so you didn't get this. We went from the bowl game and then came back and didn't get to be around really our guys until February. The only time I would really get to see them is when I would just try to watch him on Saturdays up top. I guess I was kind of blown away with the work ethic those guys were able to come back with.

“Like I told you guys before, we won 11 games last year and I don't think any of us saw that as a fluke. The expectation here is that we're going to find a way to elevate the standard and win 11 games again win, maybe 12 or 13 games, whatever it takes. The habits have to reflect the mission, and you can't win championships without championship habits.

“As late as the season went for us, I think we were all still upset about how the Big 12 Championship Game went. I picked up confetti off the field and I keep it in my office. I look at it every day. As cool as the Pop-Tart Bowl was, and it was great to end with the win and happy for our seniors to send them off with a win, but I think there's a bad taste in everyone's mouth from just how we showed up and played in the Big 12 Championship Game.

“We can't get to that level and get on that stage and do that again, so I try to remind those guys of that. I don't have to a ton because the seniors do a good job of leading those guys and holding those guys accountable, but it has created some momentum for us. It's raised the standard of what Iowa State football looks like for those guys. They better match the work ethic or you're going to get exposed here.”
