Strength of schedule

I must be losing it. I really thought ISU played a pretty decent schedule so far but Kenpom says not so fast. Has Iowa State’s strength of schedule at 156th.

Still have one snoozer with Morgan State before conference play begins. And yes there is quite a few cupcakes but there’s also so nice quad 1 and 2 victories. In fact they are sitting at 4-1 in Q1/2. Auburn is sitting 5-1 record in all quad 1 as a comparison. ISU is 5-0 vs quad 4 where Auburn is 2-0. There is just too much to tackle with stats/statistics. Head hurts.

Crazy Week For Cyclones Women's Basketball

They played a game late Sunday and had to hop on a plane early Monday morning for a game against UCONN tonight. Then they will fly home and head to Oklahoma State for the conference opener on Saturday. And all this during Finals Week. That's brutal.

The Sunday game was suppose to be the early game of the men & women's doubleheader, but when CBS Sports Network picked up the men's game, the women got moved to the late game. I'm not sure a team full of sophomores is ready for this. We need to get more production out of Audi and Addy's supporting cast.

You can watch the UCONN game Tuesday on FS1 at 7:30 PM.

BS Facebook Post

I just saw a posting on Facebook under a so-called Iowa State Fan Site (or something like that) that headlined: Iowa State QB star leaves amid Coaching Controversey. And the picture is of JJ Kohl.

And you wonder why we elect the politicians we do. Gawd, we are a dumb country. Is this a Hawkeye disinformation site? First, he isn't a star. Second, I have not heard of a coaching controversy.

Hoops NIL (men’s)

So in the past few days - I’ve read on here re: Men’s hoops NIL:

- Dennis Albaugh isn’t the/a (mega) donor

- Niang and Halliburton ARE NIL donors (to hoops only?)

- B Blum said no real major donors - a bunch of folks give some.

It’d be nice with our hoops alums in the NBA as in pt #2 if we could develop further $$ flow back to our program. Seems like an opportunity.

Nancy Pelosi falls in Luxemburg and breaks her hip!

She is now hospitalized. This is serious stuff, broken hips for elderly people usually are a death sentence. It may not kill you immediately, but it literally sucks the life out of you during recovery and wears you out.
Then we have Mitch McConnel falling and busting his face open, and he looks absolutely terrible.

We need term limits for this crap.

Analytics and season ticket pricing

Missouri Athletic Department is raising their season ticket prices and donation levels on the order of 50 to 100 percent. The student sections are about the only ones being spared. SEC TV money is not close to enough needed to compete in that conference. A statement from the Athletic Department summarizing how they got there:

“This is a data-driven approach that is keeping the end goal in mind: Helping simplify our structure and grow our revenues so we can win at the highest level in the SEC and share memorable Mizzou Moments together.“

BASKETBALL ***RELEASE: Crooks Named Big 12 WBB Player of the Week***

Iowa State Media Relations

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State women’s basketball sophomore Audi Crooks has been named the Big 12 Player of the Week. It is the first weekly award for Crooks this season and her third league player of the week award of her career.

The 6-3 center averaged over 30 points in Iowa State’s two games this week. Crooks poured in 31 points at No. 21 Iowa on Wednesday night, shooting 14-of-22 from the field before following up with 30 points Sunday night against Eastern Illinois. It was the first time an Iowa State player has posted back-to-back 30-plus point games since Ashley Joens finished with 33 and 36 against Texas and UT Arlington, respectively, in March 2022.

The Algona, Iowa native leads Iowa State this season with 21.6 points per game and 8.1 rebounds per game. In 45 career games, she has scored in double figures 44 consecutive times and totaled 894 points.

Iowa State will face off with No. 4 UConn on Tuesday night at Mohegan Sun Arena. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be televised on FS1.
