AMES, Iowa – Iowa State assistant coach Ryan Clanton has been selected to participate in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) 2025 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute, held during the AFCA Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Clanton, who is in his second season with the Cyclones, currently serves as run game coordinator and offensive line coach. The Cyclones have reached back-to-back bowl games and recently recorded the first 10-win season in school history.
Cyclone offensive linemen Jarrod Hufford and Jalen Travis were All-Big 12 honorable mention honorees in Clanton’s second season in Ames.
Iowa State rushed for more yards (2,102) and touchdowns (24) in his second season than it did in 2023. ISU has allowed just 29 sacks in 25 games, among the top 10 nationally during the last two seasons.
The AFCA Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute is a prestigious program aimed at identifying and developing premier future leaders in the football coaching profession. Selected participants are invited to attend the one-day institute that features a curriculum of interactive lectures focused on topics specifically tailored to emphasize leadership in the coaching profession, ethics, influential responsibilities, career progression, and family balance.
To be eligible, applicants were required to submit a resume, five references, and a 1,600-word article or 10-minute live instructional video on an offensive, defensive, special teams, or position-specific topic of the applicant’s choosing.
