AMES, Iowa – Iowa State safeties Jeremiah Cooper and Beau Freyler have been named to the 2024 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List, presented annually to the nation’s defensive player of the year.

Cooper and Freyler are two of 16 safeties on the list and the only safety teammates featured. In total, 75 defensive players from 56 schools are represented on the list.

Cooper, a junior from El Paso, Texas, is a preseason All-Big 12 selection after earning first-team honors in 2023. He played and started 11 games last season and finished second in the Big 12 Conference and sixth nationally with five interceptions. Cooper tallied 45 tackles and ranked fourth nationally in passes defended per game (1.4).

Freyler, a Colorado Springs, Colorado native, enters his senior season following an All-Big 12 performance as a junior in 2023. He compiled 107 tackles, becoming the first Cyclone to reach 100 tackles in a season since 2017. Freyler tied for fourth among Big 12 players for tackles and also had three interceptions and five pass breakups.

The Cyclones open the season August 31 against 2023 FCS Playoff qualifier North Dakota.

Iowa State will enjoy continuity in both the coaching and player ranks here after enduring its share of growing pains in position coach Ryan Clanton's first season in Ames.

Elon Musk very smartly shows why Democrats want illegals in this country. 2 Ways they massively benefit the democrats. One, they are trying to legalize them so they can vote. And #2, which is even more important, the census only counts people, not citizenship. If you deport all the illegals in the country, blue states would lose seats on apportionment, beyond the amount they expect to lose in 2030 (which is 13 seats). If you deport all the illegals, then blue states will lose an additional 20 seats just due to the deportation.

Think what would happen if we deport all the illegals on top of the decline in blue states normally, in 2030, blue states could in theory lose 33 seats to apportionment. This would give red states a 100% certainty of winning POTUS elections going forward, as red states that always vote GOP would likely hit the magical 269 votes before every single election, before it even starts.

Yet, Kamala within two days has "earned" enough delegate support to become the Democratic Nominee.

Hmm...that's democracy? If I am a Democrat, I'm a bit miffed that my vote was decided for me.

Has anyone seen Biden since he went to his home, and why is the signature on his letter of dropping out not match his own signature? This is really getting weird, so many conspiracies. We need to see Biden immediately to know he is still alive and actually agreed to drop out.

Sharing a recent update from my Rivals colleague EdgyTim on Illinois HS QB Israel Abrams, who collected an Iowa State offer during a June camp.

Is this the last year of the extra Covid year that allows for Super Seniors? I’ve been wondering this for awhile. What about guys who redshirted in 2020 like Daniel Jackson, Tyler Miller, JR Singleton—could they come back next year?
