Big Rob Energy?

Anyone at the game notice every time Big Rob came into the game the PA called him "Big Rob Energy"?

I think it might be a sponsored deal, as Renewable Energy Groups logo came up on the screen. Had an energy related nickname for the walkon too. Anyone know?

Suppose the players are getting NIL money for that? If so, will Weber step up and sponsor "Fire up the Grill" every time Caleb hits a shot? It was pretty sophomoric IMO.

They can't help themselves

We've had this thread 1000 times before, but another one hit this morning, that makes me shake my head.
I work for a large multi state corporation, with maybe 5000 employees. My "division" is across several states and maybe has a couple hundred employees. So when a new person gets hired in our division, they send out an email telling about the job filled, and a little personal background on the employee.

In the end, it will usually have a rundown of their hobbies. Sammy likes fishing, gardening, playing tennis, and going to his kids events. Or it might say Sammy likes watching the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday. Or Sammy likes watching the Packers. But here is the line from the end of the email today.

"He is an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan who enjoys reminding his Cornhusker neighbors of Iowa’s football dominance."

Really?

Makes me squint my eyes and shake my head. Just like the moron on my team during our weekly check in call. We start with a roll call, and when it is your turn, most guys go, "Hey." "Morning" "Yup" And this tool always does "Go Hawks"
I have a co-worker that grew up in Wisconsin, that likes the Badgers, and he can't figure it out either, other than, "They can't help themselves."

RELEASE: Fannon contract extended

Iowa State Media Relations

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State has extended the contract of soccer coach Matt Fannon and his staff according to Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard and Senior Associate Athletics Director / Sports Administration Dr. Calli Sanders.

Fannon’s contract has been extended through Dec. 31, 2026.

“I respect and appreciate the continued commitment that Matt is making to the development of the women in our program, both on and off the playing field,” Pollard said. “He is instilling the same levels of expectation, discipline and accountability towards our student-athletes that all of our head coaches seek. I am excited about the future of our soccer program under Matt’s leadership.”
Fannon just completed his third season with the Cyclones and his first with a full schedule and complete recruiting class (due to COVID-19 challenges), and there has been steady growth in the program.
His first team (2020) had a truncated schedule due to COVID but was highly competitive against the toughest schedule in school history. The 2021 squad ended the year with the school’s longest unbeaten streak (five matches) since 2010. This year’s team was 1-1-1 vs. nationally ranked schools (including a win at #24 Michigan and a tie vs. #23 Texas) and beat Iowa in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series.
Dr. Sanders, who oversees the day-to-day operations of soccer and 14 other sports, noted a consistent and optimistic view of the program’s future in recent student-athlete feedback reviewed.
“We have a continuous evaluation process for all of our programs, including a robust communications platform for student-athletes to share their experiences,” Sanders said. “In the last three years – including recent feedback from our current student-athletes – there is an overwhelming confidence in the leadership of our soccer program and the trajectory of the team’s future. Developing a winning culture takes time and our coaching staff and student-athletes are united in working towards the competitive results that we desire.”
Prior to Iowa State, Fannon led Bowling Green State to a 41-18-7 record (26-6-1 in the MAC) and was named Mid-American Conference Coach-of-the-Year all three seasons. The Falcons advanced to the NCAA Championships in two of those seasons.
“I am extremely grateful to Jamie and Calli for their unwavering support of our program,” Fannon said. “The journey is seldom easy but having the incredible guidance and support of the administration energizes me, our staff and our student-athletes to continue pursuing championship-level soccer and an enriching experience for our players.”
Fannon and his team are preparing for off-season conditioning. Spring season competition begins in March, 2023.

Observations on QB play

I know we've played against some pretty bad QBs in the past, but I don't think any of them were as bad as Daniels today, especially considering he was a high value recruit. He wound up 8-21 for 81 yards, one TD and one INT. That was even worse than Ioway and Petras, who at least completed double digit passes, going 12-26 for 92 yards, one TD and one INT.

The one thing Brock Purdy had that Dekkers doesn't is pocket awareness, and that includes when to take off running and when to not. I think Purdy would have avoided most of the sacks that Dekkers has taken this year and he never seems to gain much yardage when he decides to pull it down and run.
