Cyclone Lacrosse Team and the Mary Jane Episode

Poor judgement on the team's part but their penalty seems a little harsh to me IMO. Welcome to the age of social media. Reminds me of Fred Hoiberg's comment that social media will be the end of us all.

Two Things - Road Games

1. Am I the only one not all that upset about the struggles on the road of late? This league is ridiculous. There’s not a single Q2 game on the road in this league. You’re not going to win many in that sort of a league. Sure, at Tech and at WV were games we should’ve won (could’ve in the case of WV) won, but we didn’t. We did win at Okla and at TCU, though. For a top 25 team, that’s actually very understandable. The only game that really bites right now, looking at the game before it was played, was the home loss to OSU.

2. Judgment calls simply do not go our way on the road. We never get the charge called on the road. It’s almost a moot point to play defense in a manner that puts you in position to draw one. You’re better off contesting the shot at this point. Very frustrating.

Baylor at KU

Baylor looked unbeatable in first half, hitting 9 3s and building 13 point halftime lead. Now with just under 12 mins to play in game, KU is up by 9. They’ve also shot a lot more fts as well. Bottom line it’s damn tough to win on the road in the Big 12 this season no matter how much talent you have! Refs do seem to favor the home team more often than not which sure doesn’t help a visiting team’s cause!

ESPN+ Bubble Watch 2023: Brace yourself for NCAA tournament drama

First 3 graphs…
Going by the numbers, the Big 12 is the strongest conference in Division I from top to bottom. Just take a look at Bubble Watch.
Half the Big 12 is already safely ensconced in the "lock" category: Kansas, Texas, Baylor, Kansas State and Iowa State. In other words, the Big 12 looks very much like a conference that has produced the past two national champions.
The league's might in 2023 raises a natural question: How does this season's Big 12 compare to the strongest conferences of the past?

BASKETBALL ***RELEASE: Otzelberger Named to Werner Ladder Naismith Men’s College Coach of the Year Late Season Watch List***

Iowa State Media Relations

ATLANTA, Ga. – Iowa State men’s basketball head coach T.J. Otzelberger has been named to the 2023 Werner Ladder Naismith Men’s College Coach of the Year Late Season Watch List. Otzelberger is one of 15 coaches across the country named to the list, including three from the Big 12.

In his second season at the helm, Otzelberger has led the Cyclones to a Top 20 ranking for the second-straight year, as the Cyclones sit 17-8 overall on the year and are currently ranked No. 19 in the nation. Of those 17 victories, seven have come against teams ranked in the AP Top 25, the most by any team in America.

A list of 10 semifinalists will be announced on Thursday, March 9. The Werner Ladder Naismith Men’s College Coach of the Year award will be narrowed to four finalists on Monday, March 20. The final round includes an opportunity for consumers to participate through the Naismith Awards Fan Vote presented by Jersey Mike’s, which accounts for 5% of the total vote and runs from March 21-28. The winner will be announced on Sunday, April 2, at the Naismith Awards Brunch presented by Frost Bank at the Final Four in Houston.

“Each year we are amazed by the remarkable coaching performances that elevate these contenders as candidates for the Werner Ladder Naismith College Men’s Coach of the Year,” said Eric Oberman, executive director of the Atlanta Tipoff Club. “The end of the regular season, with tremendous pressure on each game, usually separates those seeking to advance in the next step in our voting.”
