Life is good Cyclone fans

Tomorrow four generations of our cyclone family will be in Hilton for our daughters graduation. This past week, she wrote a letter about her experience of being a marketing intern in the Iowa State athletic department over the past two years. She talked about how grateful she is for the opportunity to work in the athletic department. She described it as amazing, incredible friendships, and great memories. The internship taught her so many things. She interned with football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, and wrestling. She talked about how she has been coming to Iowa state sporting events since before she could walk. Yep, we were a family with the stroller and kids on the grass hills. She thanked by name the people in the athletic department for teaching her so much. And for anyone here who was wondering who the “Beauty” was in the Beauty and the Beast that was my daughter. She obviously gets her looks from her mother.

Seeing her at the 50 yard line before kick off talking to the officials, seeing her on ESPN sitting at the scorers table in Hilton with head phones on and Bill Self standing in front of her, and seeing her talking to the young kids as Beauty in the Beast are just a few of the special memories we as parents have.

She is also excited to come back to Iowa State sporting events as an alumni. Life is good. Thank you Iowa State!

***PLEASE NOTE: I'll be traveling and out of the office 5/7 - 5/15***

Just a heads up...my wife and I are packing up and taking the two kids and my parents on an Alaskan Cruise next week to celebrate our 15th anniversary. We're heading out on Sunday morning (Des Moines-Chicago-Anchorage) and will be back the following Monday night (Vancouver-Seattle-Denver-Des Moines). But don't worry, I've still got daily content coming your way throughout my absence.

I figured this would be a good time to step away for a family vacation, given we're past spring ball and about four weeks away from official visit season & ISU recruiting camps kicking off.

While I'm away, @Chester90 has offered to be the primary moderator on the message boards. I'll still have wifi access on the cruise ship, so I'll be able to pop in from time to time.

Take care!

So how much money per team does the PAC 12 need to stay together?

Swain is reporting today that ESPN is sticking with 9M per team (90M) overall, and he thinks that Apple TV is going to offer 10M per team. So 19M per team at 10 teams (likely no expansion for them). And almost all their content will be via streaming. Does anyone think this will be enough for all 10 teams to sign a GOR? Big 12 is going to make 32M per team, before any of the other new revenue streams are added in that Yormark is working on.

I personally was thinking that if they get to 25M per team, that they might be conned into staying, but 19M is way less than 32M. Seems to me that if they sign any GOR in the PAC 12, they are effectively ending sports as they know it at these schools. They will becoming G5 sports programs, or even less.
