Looking Recommendations For Ames Dentist

One of the hardest aspects of moving to a new place is finding a new doctor, dentist, ophthalmologist, barber/hair stylist. When you live and work in a town, you have coworkers and many friends to ask for recommendations. But in a new town it's not as easy for a retired guy.

My immediate need today is to find a dentist so I can get on their schedule for what I hope are cleanings, x-rays, etc. My Cedar Rapids dentist did find a cavity during my last visit which surprised me. He will fix that next week, but after that my next appointment will be in Ames.

I am looking for any recommendations from the fine folks in Ames. You may post it here or send me a private message with your recommendation. Any comments about your recommendation would be appreciated as I try to figure this out. When I search the Internet, they are all just names on a list to me at this point.

You’ve got mail! guy RIP

AOL's "You've Got Mail" voice, Elwood Edwards, dies at 74.

Edwards recorded the famous greeting in 1989, a project initiated by his wife, who worked at AOL's predecessor. Edwards was paid $200 for the recordings that later became a staple of early internet culture. His voice not only became synonymous with AOL but also inspired the title of the 1998 film "You've Got Mail" starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.

Dems claim the economy is great. Guess what the DJIA does so far today.

I was thinking the Trump victory was already baked into the DJIA, but so far today, the DJIA is up over 1300 points! I will be making on paper today thousands. During the Trump 1st term, I forecasted that the DJIA would be 56,000+ by now, and it is only 43,000 under Biden, and yet the Dems thought that was great. It sucked. 1300+ points baby!

Did you vote a straight party ticket?

My ballot didn't provide the option for voting a straight party ticket, so I assume that option has been eliminated. But my question still applies. Did you only vote for candidates representing your party? Or did you at times cross over and vote against a member of your party?

My sense is many of the more vocal on this board would tend to vote a straight party ticket.

I voted with an absentee ballot. That gave me more time to study each of the choices. After my research I voted equal portions Democrat, Republican and Libertarian. For those that question my independence, you can't get much more independent than that.

I'd like to know who determines the order candidates are listed within each race. My ballot has DEM first, REP second, then LIB, PSL, SOC, WTP and last no party listed. It looks alphabetical after the DEM and REP candidates. Does the auditor get to choose if DEM is ahead of REP?
