Listening to Chris William's podcast on their free board, he says he has a strong belief that the Big XII schools had to give "a little bit" of money to secure ASU and UU. That little bit was in the neighborhood of 3 million per team.

That would make our TV rights payout 28.7 million per team instead of 31.7 million. He also said the XII powers to be felt it was the price to ensure the PAC was killed, and that was needed.

Had anyone else heard this? He also said there were other ways to increase revenue. I imagine one of those would be bowl enhancements, as they work on some of the PAC bowl tie-ins.

Just announced this morning that Mercy Hospitals of Iowa City are bankrupt and UIHC is in the process of taking over most of the Assets (and hopefully staff, as we sure can use them).

They should have accepted UIHC offer years ago for 500M.

Swaim is reporting that OU supposedly does not have the money to buy out of their remaining contract, and UT and the SEC are not willing to foot the bill, so UT and OU staying for 3 more years. I hope not. I thought this was a done deal.

Also being reported that Oregon and Washington to the Big 10 is not a sure thing?

Now that we know who won’t be playing QB for Iowa State, shoukd be interesting to watch. I’m actually excited about all three of ours.

I know media day is Friday. Does camp start that day? The next day? Earlier? What is the schedule?

If Yormark can pull off UCONN and Gonzaga for hoops, will he use that for leverage if big 2 conferences try to screw big 12 in football playoffs set up? It would increase the big 12 power considerably.

Will any of the other conferences offer them a home?

NASSAU, Bahamas – Iowa State opened its foreign tour to the Bahamas Sunday with a 119-48 victory over Lucayans. The Cyclones opened the game on a 15-0 run and never looked back.

“Over the past eight weeks, we’ve worked on the connectivity of our team,” Iowa State Head Coach T.J. Otzelberger said. “After going against each other in practice over that time, I was proud of the way our guys played in their first game against a different opponent.”

Curtis Jones led all scorers with 32 points, connecting on 8-of-12 3-point attempts. Keshon Gilbert added 14 points, while Tamin Lipsey had 11. Tre King and Demarion Watson were also in double figures with 10 points. Milan Momcilovic led all players with eight rebounds, while Omaha Biliew added seven. Gilbert and Lipsey each had five boards. Watson had five steals, while Jelani Hamilton and Lipsey each had three. Jackson Paveletzke had seven assists, while Lipsey and Gilbert each had three. Hason Ward added two blocked shots.

“Curtis did a great job of hunting his shot today,” Otzelberger said. “Our guards spread the ball around and found the hot hand.”

The Cyclones were 48-of-83 (58%) from the field and 12-of-26 (46%) from 3-point range. Iowa State held Lucayans to 22 percent (10-of-45) shooting, including 2-of-13 (15%) from downtown. The Cyclones assisted on 20 of their 48 made baskets.

I just skimmed it and covers a lot of angles from potential future private equity interest to why Yormark would be interested in UCONN and a lot in between.

I'm kind of half-assed looking at traveling to Thailand this winter. I've always wanted to go to Thailand (1) because it's so cheap to live there and (2) I absolutely love Thai food and Thai street food looks even more amazing.

The big problem for me is flying. No, I'm not afraid of flying, I'm afraid of the seating. I'm a big guy. Economy class seating is no good for me and business class is too damned expensive. First class? Forget about it. I was looking at Economy premium seating and that seems more reasonable price wise, but are the leg room and seats really as advertised? I saw somewhere that the leg room is like 7 inches more and the seats are slightly wider. Or would it just be cheaper to buy two economy class seats side by side (do they charge a premium for seats that are side by side? Is that even doable?).

I'll probably never end up going anyway because I'm just so darned lazy, but it's nice to dream, isn't it?
