Trump...I just don't get it

I'm a conservative. I voted for Trump in 2016 & 2020. If it comes down to my only choice being Trump in the General Election, I will vote for him.

But, I don't get the love with Trump this time around (I'm a Nikki fan). My concerns with Trump:
  • He would be 78 by the time he takes office...and 82 be the time he'd be done.
  • His "I did this" (instead of "we did this) is ridiculously arrogant and pompous.
  • He doesn't listen.
  • He has lost many staffers over the years.
  • His character is questionable.
  • I don't believe middle aged women ("mom's") will ever vote for him (a huge fear I have in regard to beating Biden).
    • Paraphrasing a mom on a local talk radio show here recently who said she will never vote for Trump, "Trump reflects so much what we teach out kids NOT to do".
  • The Never Trumpers still exist. I have intelligent conservative friends that claim they will never vote for Trump.
  • Right or wrong, he has legal issues going on.
Again, I will vote for him if he's the nominee.

But, I seriously do not think he can win...whereas I think Nikki would resonate well.

So, I am asking...if you are voting for Trump to be the Republican nominee, why?

ISU Bowl Game Thoughts

I have no reason to believe that ISU will not have as many fans at the Liberty Bowl than last time out. Here are my reasons why:

1. There is currently more excitement about ISU football than during our previous trip. Some may say this statement is wrong.

2. What the people on this board, including me, may envision for attendance at the bowl game does not carry much weight.

3. The amount of tickets sold as part of ISU's ticket allotment has no bearing on how many ISU fans attend. Who would buy tickets from ISU when there are better seats available on Ticketmaster, ect?

4. There are many on this board who don't even go to the ISU games at home, let alone a bowl game in Memphis. Many have good reasons why, due to their age and health conditions, which I respect. We have a pretty old crowd on this board.

Color me blind, but I think ISU fans will debunk this 'rumor' that their will be fewer fans than last time. Color me as excited!

Another Hilton gem from the past

Surprised I found this on youtube. A la the Lafester vs Iowa game posted recently.

From 1986. Big win over Kansas. I was a sophomore with rare great seats, not far behind our bench.

Close enough to get a bird's eye view of Johnny's justifiable meltdown of the Kansas airball of a free throw but with the subsequent awarding of the ball to KU on the inbounds play, towards the end of the first half. (Can't help wondering what TJ's reaction would be in the same circumstance).

Surprised I didn't remember how good Sam Hill was in this game. Though he did tend to come up big in games like this.

David Moss (remember him?) was an unsung hero. Got a well deserved ovation when he went back to the bench. Played a critical role with Sammy in foul trouble (eventually fouled out)

Could have been a much more comfortable win if not for horrific free throw shooting in the second half.

IIRC we were the only Big 8 team to beat KU that season. They went on to the final four.

Anyone else at this game?

The Dual docuseries

I finished watching The Dual docuseries on Amazon Prime Video this weekend. For those not aware of it, it is a 6 part series on the dual meet between Iowa State and Iowa in 1986. It's produced by Jim Gibbons. It was really good for people who follow wrestling. I would recommend. You have to buy it for $10 but it's worth it in my opinion. Lot of good interviews and was neat seeing all the Iowa high school wrestlers who were involved from both teams and some really good wrestling.
