This has probably been discussed on here but….

I was scanning channels on Dish a bit ago and came across The Royce White show on the Real America’s Voice channel. He apparently has a new hour long show on Saturday mornings. I’m watching it now and he definitely leans right but also hits the right where needed. Well spoken and intelligent. Again, this has probably been discussed here or on the Off Topic forum but thought it was interesting just in case it hadn’t.

The effects of the CFP on student athletes

I know I'm old school, but when I was a student at ISU--December leading up to finals was a pretty rough ride.

"Dead Week" (does that even exist any more?) was meant for studying...lots of hours in the library, study room, etc.

Ok, so now enter the College Football Playoff. Championship game in 2024 is Saturday, December 7. First round of the CFP is Saturday, December 20. One will require travel, and both could require travel. Plus an incredible amount of preparation getting ready for the games.

I assume Finals Week would be the week leading up to the championship game?

So, my question is--when do these kids go to class? When do they study? When do they take exams?

I could not imagine prepping for finals, plus a CFP game.

I guess I don't get it. Has school been dumbed down that much over the past 40 years? When was the last time we heard about an academic issue?

And, are these the graduates we are sending out in the world with degrees?

FB | Recruiting KC

What may help the Cyclones in FB recruiting in KC is Cyclone FB-recruit Mason Miller's father, Todd Miller.

Todd is leaving his position as head coach at Pine Creek HS, Colo. and picking back up at Lee's Summit, Mo.

In 19 yrs at Pine Creek he won four state titles, runner-up twice, semi-final runs 10 times, won his league 15 times, and leaves with a record of 192-40. Pine Creek moved to 5A, the largest class, in 2022.

OT Colorado and Deion

I know this is a cyclone board but with the Buffs entering back into the conference I found this article pretty fitting. I feel that Colorado is kind of a brittle program. They may bring talent in due to hot shot names but that won’t cut it without a coach that knows how to build a player up to their full potential. Also, nice little ending to the article about Iowa State.

Shooters and Scorers

Big Rob’s thread got me thinking about past years.
This team doesn’t seem to have a “go to” player, a scorer or a shooter. Get points when needed.
They just grind.
Jake Sullivan and Matt Thomas were shooters.
Jeff Grayer and Marcus Fixer were scorers.
Freddy and Georges were hybrids, a mix of both.
Imagine what this team could be with one or the other, or both!

Online Media Bias Chart

This is a different version of the more detailed media bias charts you often find. This is ratings for online, US political content only. I came upon it after trying to check a site I was reading and detecting heavy bias in their commentary. Sure enough the site was in one of the extreme columns.

I post this chart here to get opinions on it's validity. Is this a credible site to rate bias? or are they biased themselves?

Vasketball court markings question

What is the significance of the line on the basketball court that extends from the end of the scorers table onto the court a couple feet? And why does it extend onto the court?

I believe at one time it indicated the coaching box but now that has been extended to a point has way between that line and half court. And this coaches box line does not extend onto the court.

Just curious if anyone knows what this line is supposed to do.

Ticket vouchers for the Iowa Wolves

As part of my work with the Iowa Wolves broadcast team, I've got about five vouchers that are each worth two free tickets to the Iowa Wolves, who of course now have Gabe Kalscheur on the roster. Usually these are pretty good seats, too. It's my treat!

Their first game with Kalscheur is tonight vs. Rio Grande Valley. If anyone is interested, shoot me a DM on here with your email address and I'll send you a screen shot of the voucher.

Here's the schedule for the rest of the season:

Big12 Baaketball Crowds

Can't ever remember so many full arenas and wild crowds as there are now in the Big12. Of course the wvu's,osu's,ucf's don't make it on the big stage often, but everyone else seems to be bonkers about their bball team. Almost every game looks and sounds like Hilton. I think ISU has been a good influence on t he rest of the league
