Football Offense

If our offense had scored 17 points in every game this past season, we would have finished 7-5.

Scoring 21 points in every game would have gotten us an 8-4 record.

Scoring 24 points in regulation in every game might have gotten us to 9-3, depending on how overtime went with Texas.

Scoring 28 points in every game would have gotten us to 10-2.

Averaging 28 points per game still would have placed us 68th in the country in scoring offense.

If we can keep the defense somewhat close to its level from last year and just have an average offense, we should have a good season.

Groan

A southern farmer got in his pickup and drove several miles to a neighboring farm and knocked on the farmhouse door. A young boy, about 12, opened the door. "Is yer pa home?" he asked.

"No sir, he sure ain't," the boy replied. "He went to town."

"Well," said the farmer. "Is yer ma home?"

"No, she ain't here either. She went to town with pa." "Well, then, how about yer brother, Joe, is he here?" "No sir, he went with pa and ma."

The farmer stood there for a few minutes, shifting from one foot to the other, and mumbling to himself.

"Is there anything I kin do fer ya'?" inquired the young boy politely. "I know where all the tools are, if you want to borry one; Or maybe I could take a message fer pa."

Well," said the farmer uncomfortably, "I really wanted to talk to yer pa. It's about your brother Joe getting my daughter, Pearly Mae, pregnant."

The boy considered for a moment. "You would have to talk to pa about that," he finally conceded. "I know that pa charges $500 for the bull and $250 for the boar hog, but I really don't know how much he gets for Joe."

Best Point and Biggest Laugh Last Night

Campbell was answering a question about Brock last night and made the point that the 1st 8 weeks of the NFL everyone was talking about Breece. Next 8 weeks, everyone was talking about Brock. He said the football program and university benefited greatly.

He was going to go to the Philly game with his son Rudy, except Rudy woke up at midnight throwing up. Plans changed. Then he lamented the fact that he's spent years trying to get his kids to be Browns fans and just like that they are 49er fans. Even worse than that, they like and are cheering for Kittle. :)

Wide Receivers

Scheelhaase said to win in the Big 12, you have to have a power rung game and be explosive in the passing game.

Obviously, Clanton's success with the Oline will be key to the running game. But the explosion in the passing game will have to come from the Wide Receivers. Do we have players who can give us explosive plays?

Stanley has the speed. He needs to eliminate the "Stonefingers" approach that occurs too often.

Noel is the most experienced but never has quite developed to a true threat behind Hutchison. Scheme or talent?

Bitter had a (very) few big catches then disappeared. Why? Injury or coaches decision?

Daniel Jackson? Rave reviews, never healthy.

Higgins is a experienced at a lower level.

How about the redshirt freshmen? Gaines III, Essex, Adams? Adam's supposedly has elite speed.

Is Hannika a TE who can add explosive plays?

Are any true frosh likely ready?

Does explosive plays (20 yards+) come from players or can it be schemed?
