Iowa State is the lead story on ESPN's MBB Home Page

Nice to get some recognition.

Oh, and getting wins in MBB over KU on Saturday and watching Purdy come back from 17 down in the 2nd half yesterday made for a wonderful sports weekend.

Remaining MBB Schedule

There are 11 games left! Look at the gauntlet. Opportunity to lose five or six games and still be a top 16-20 team.
Opponent. NET Rank (Quad)
@ Baylor 18 (1)
@ Texas. 41 (1)
TCU 30 (1)
@ Cincinnati 32 (1)
Texas Tech 26 (1)
@ Houston 1 (1)
West Virginia 152 (3)
Oklahoma. 34 (2)
@ UCF 71 (1)
BYU 6 (1)
@ Kansas St 73 (1)

A quad 1 home game is against a top 30 team. Away is against top 75.
Jay Wright said Saturday, “when you get quad 1 games at home you’re in a heck of a conference!”

Guess our record. I say we likely lose 4 more and finish 12-6.

King McClure’s Comments

McClure made some very irresponsible comments after Tang went over to TJ during the 2nd half. He said fans say ruthless things and it had to be egregious because Tang isn’t one to get upset. Not only did McClure have zero idea what was said, he wouldn’t have known if anything had even been said. I wondered how the rumor got started that something unacceptable was said by a fan to Tang. After finally watching the replay, I now know. Total BS and why he shouldn’t be allowed to work a game involving a former coach of his.

The amazing thing about U of I basketball.

They are not last in the Big 10! They lost again last night, did not know they were even playing. Pretty morbid over there. As bad as they are, there are 5 teams WORSE than them in that league. What a dumpster fire that whole league is.

They dropped to 64th in the country on Net ranking. About 15 spots below Drake!

Randy Pete's Take on Tang

Couldn't agree more!:
"Tang walking past half court to confront TJ during the game last night was something I haven't seen, maybe since ever. That'd be like CMC walking across midfield during a game to holler at an opposing coach. What happened to coaching your team during games, stead of hollering at the opposing coach? FWIW: Iowa State at K-State 1:30 pm March 9 in the regular-season finale."

John Higgins

I’ve always thought Higgins was a great ref and honoring him yesterday was pretty awesome. Was told a story about him that may/may not be true, but given who told me…believe it is. He absolutely despised Fran McCaffrey, hated reffing his games, and eventually wouldn’t. One game Fran & his wife were being extra Fran and his wife and John had had enough. He went to Fran and said, “Ok…either you or your wife is getting tossed. Your choice.” Fran looked at him & said, “Well, make it me”. And so it was 😂😂😂

Cowherd SUCKS

Flipped channel there for one minute.
No more.

He told me Brock purdy is "ordinary".
"That's nothing against him".
BS
Like most of what comes out of cowturd's mouth.

I got away before my TV suffered damage.

Kid did everything He had questioned about him all year.
And he gets a bigger hard on against him.

The "Stay there" play was great QB'ing.
It saved a TD.
Never heard an analyst mention it.

Now to turn the TV back on.
What channel for underwater basket weaving???

CBS postgame

Shockingly dismissive of the Clones. More in what they didn’t say and the fact they didn’t talk about them much at all. ISU made more 3s than they have in years. King was stupid from 3. KU doesn’t have the best defensive team. Tang says Houston is the best defensive team he’s ever seen.

I’ll sum up their commentary: Hilton is such an advantage that it skews who ISU actually is. They won’t have the horses to compete long-term like Houston and Kansas, et al.

BYU Horns Down

I don’t know if this was mentioned in another thread but, apparently, students who were lined up behind a basket wearing t-shirts that spelled out horns down were told to remove them. Not sure who told them to take them off but what a bunch of sh$t. The snowflake whiny UT coach probably made a big deal of it. I’d have told him to f$ck off.

BASKETBALL RECRUITING ***Cyclones hosting prospects in the 2025 & 2026 classes on Saturday***

Hilton Coliseum will be rocking once again on Saturday afternoon when Iowa State takes on Kansas at 12:30. I've confirmed that five recruits will be in attendance for the festivities, plus seeing their way around campus and checking out the basketball facilities. Here's a quick rundown!

Login to view embedded media For the past several months, the Milwaukee (Wisc.) standout Jamarion Batemon has emerged as the Cyclones' point guard priority in the 2025 class and not much has changed. The 6-foot-3, 165-pound point guard is averaging 21.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists as a junior. He's also connected on 46-percent of his shots from 3-point territory. Iowa State and Marquette have been the clear-cut favorites for Batemon, who also has an offer from Illinois.

Nicolet small forward Davion Hannah will be getting his first look at Iowa State on Saturday. The 6-foot-7, 180-pound junior also has offers from Arizona State, LSU, Marquette, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Oregon, Wake Forest, and Wisconsin. Hannah is likely to add an offer from the Cyclones to the list this weekend. This season, he's averaging 19.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.8 steals per game.

Login to view embedded media Davenport (IA) Assumption Nevon Shabazz is one of the state's top prospects regardless of class and is heading to Ames for the third time on an unofficial visit. He has early offers from Wake Forest to go with others in the low-to-mid major ranks. This season as a sophomore, the 6-foot-3, 170-pound point guard is averaging 16.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists.

Login to view embedded media Rolla (Missouri) sophomore combo guard Ethan Brown is taking his second unofficial visit to Iowa State this weekend. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound sophomore is putting up big numbers for his team this season. Lindenwood, Saint Louis, and Southeast Missouri State are the early offers, but the Cyclones could blow open his recruitment with an offer this weekend.
