“After posting a 70-65 win at Texas, the Cyclones are tied for first place in the loss column in a conference that is commonly regarded as the strongest in the nation. T.J. Otzelberger's group thrives on forcing turnovers. Though the Longhorns committed a relatively normal-appearing 14 turnovers in 65 possessions, ISU's Tamin Lipsey recorded four steals while the visitors gave the ball away just eight times in their own right. One or two more wins like that in Austin and the projected 4-seed Iowa State will move up to "Lock" territory. (updated Feb. 7)” 😒
I know I speculated on this potential hire a few weeks ago and it appears that I was onto something. I'm hearing that in the next couple of days the Cyclones will name Colby Kratch as the new linebackers coach. It was a move that made a lot of sense from the very start, as Kratch worked his way up the ranks in Ames before getting his break as a full time position coach at North Texas. I think it's a good move for CMC and Jon Heacock, who I'm hearing will be in place for at least the next couple seasons to have a familiar face back in Ames who knows the defense in and out.
Colby Kratch joined the UNT Football staff in December 2022. He serves as linebackers coach. Kratch has spent the last six seasons on staff at Iowa State, mo...
Long-time Iowa State staffer Colby Kratch returned to Iowa State as linebackers coach in 2024. Kratch was at ISU from 2017-22 as a graduate assistant and in the
After having taken DEI training and talking with a friend who is a DEI officer, why are we NOT applying this to all sports at ISU? If quotas are good for academics and the workplace, then surely they would be good for sports? Should be way more Whites/Asians/Hispanics on our sports teams. If you truly believe in DEI, you should be DEMANDING this. Afterall, it is about building the best team, right?
ISU is near the bottom of the league in 3pt defense percentage and Baylor is the top team in shooting percentage @ 40%. It was not going to go well for the Cyclones unless they could turn Baylor over for some easy run outs.
I see the Baylor AD came out with a statement dressing down the officials. Turnabout seems like fair play since things didn’t exactly get called right or at all for us at times too. Jamie should issue a counter statement. 😀 I’ve seen worse officiating in this league though.
