Bye week TV viewing

So what's everyone going to be watching this weekend? Games that play into the Cyclones' fate:

BYU @ UCF ESPN 2:30 - UCF is a 2.5 home favorite. They could do us a solid by handing Brigham's Boys their first loss.

Kansas at Kansas State ESPN2 7:00 - KSU favored by 10. It would be nice if the Larryville Larcenists could steal one on the road, giving the Cyclones a cushion.

Boise State at UNLV CBS Sports Network 9:30 - BSU is a 3.5 road favorite. Both teams have one loss. The Vegas Vagabonds could help ISU's playoff hopes by knocking off the Blue Ponies.

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State women's basketball senior point guard Emily Ryan has been named to the Nancy Lieberman Award watchlist, announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Monday. It is the third time in her career that she has been featured on the award's watchlist after receiving votes the last two seasons.

Ryan will return for her fifth and final season of eligibility as one of the most prolific point guards in collegiate women's basketball. After sitting out the first nine games of the 2023-24 season due to injury, she quickly impacted a young Iowa State squad upon her return and helped the Cyclones match the best start to Big 12 play in program history with a 6-0 conference record. Beginning in late January, Ryan connected on 34-consecutive free throw attempts and matched the 65th-longest streak in NCAA Division I women's basketball history.

A 2024 Big 12 All-Tournament team selection, Ryan broke the conference tournament record for career assists (64) and set an Iowa State women's basketball record for career assists following her 10th dime in the quarterfinal victory over Baylor. She has now pushed the all-time mark to 782 assists. She enters the 2024-25 season as one of three active NCAA Division I women's basketball players to record at least 150 assists in at least three seasons and she is the only active player to post the mark in four seasons. In the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament, Ryan passed out 14 assists to go along with 18 points for her fourth double-double of the season. She also posted a career-high 36 points against No. 2-seed and fourth-ranked Stanford in the second round, finishing 6-of-9 from 3-point range and 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.

Iowa State plays an exhibition contest against Central on Wednesday, October 30 before opening the regular season on Monday, November 4 against Chicago State.

Still a tad early bowl projections

Bonagura has us 11th seeded

Heather Dinich still only has one B12 team in her top 12 seedings.

Sorry for the font/bold disparity, copying and pasting had a mind of its own.

By the way Dems, whatever happened to the Me Too movement (Doug Emhoff)

Back in 2018, Bret Kavanaugh was accused of sexual assault...and the Me Too movement was all over the story. The media went nuts, liberals were gah-gah in thinking Kavanaugh may not get confirmed, and Kavanaugh was vilified.

Fast forward to 2024. Earlier this month, Doug Emhoff (Kamala's husband) was accused in a report of assaulting his ex-girlfriend. Crickets.

So, Dems...where are you now in relation to Emhoff and "Me Too"?

Only when it fits the narrative, eh?

Into the belly of the beast

Going to Iowa City tomorrow to watch my nephew play for Northwestern. Would only go if we got free tickets in the Northwestern family section. No chance I would sit out with the unwashed Hawkeye masses.

Hoping to get there and back without incident. Not wearing any ISU gear but will probably tailgate with a couple Ames lagers just because.

Wish me luck!

PS. Haven't been to a game there since Jim Walden almost pulled an upset over Iowa in like 1989 or 1990 or so (guessing).

If the Trump verdict in New York is overturned (which it seems it will), could Trump sue NY for hundreds of millions if not many billions?

Lets say that the court overturns the 450M verdict that was leveled and says it was wrongful prosecution, essentially a law made specifically for Trump only, from a legal aspect, can Trump sue the state of New York. Personally, I believe the state should pay him BILLIONs if this is the case . I would love to see a lawsuit that would be so heavy that New York could be pushed towards bankruptcy. NY would deserve it.
