The crook caught with 2 more confidential documents

Imagine my shock that he didn't turn over all classified documents after the raid...

His lawyers have to go find it because they don't want to be prosecuted.

You can't make this crap up. What an idiot. Just a matter of time Donnie.

Sama is Register’s State Football Player of the Year (Mr. Football?)

(Edited from the linked story…)

This past season, Sama was miles better [than last year], rushing for 1,408 yards and 28 touchdowns on, again, 144 carries [the same number of carries as last year]. He recorded the same amount of rushing attempts, yet rushed for 477 more yards and scored 16 more touchdowns.

Add in his nine receptions for 144 receiving yards and he's up to 1,552 total offensive yards on 153 touches, which is 10.1 yards — a first down, basically — every time he touched the football. Even more, 14 of his 29 total touchdowns spanned 20 yards or more, and nine went 40 yards or more.

Sama capped his spectacular senior season with a record-shattering performance, a 372-yard, six-touchdown performance in the Rams’ 49-14 win over West Des Moines Valley in the Class 5A state championship game.

The 372 rushing yards and six touchdowns are both state title game records. The 372 rushing yards broke a 31-year-old record previously held by West Branch's Kevin Braddock, who rushed for 311 in the 1991 Class 1A state final. The six touchdowns broke the previous record of five, which was held by eight different players.

(But they forgot to mention he’s going to Iowa State. Here’s the writer’s Twitter handle, in case anyone wants to remind him😆: https://twitter.com/codygoodwin)

NIL getting further out of hand....

2 newsworthy NIL developments.

#1. A new NIL deal worth up to $8 million for a high school junior? This article highlights a great point, many of these NIL deals operate outside of the school itself. Even if a coach is against the idea, they are largely powerless to stop it.

#2. Urban is back in college football... well, kind of... A non-profit organization set up to pay Buckeye athletes to work with charities. So a non-profit paying athletes to work with other non-profits..... Slimy...

NIL Strategy

First off, I hate NIL. It's BS that TCU pays 20+ transfer (free agent) players and everyone says what a remarkable turnaround they are. That said, we have to play the NIL game and we have less $$$ than basically anybody.

Here's what seems like a viable strategy to me:

  • No NIL for incoming freshmen recruits (maybe small amounts for destitute families to travel to games)
  • Grab passed-over young players and develop them.
  • Retain starters with NIL money. Hopefully we can retain a player for $50k that Texas/etc. would pay $100k to.
  • Pay NIL for transfer players almost guaranteed to start e.g. a 5th year OL.

If we have roughly $1M to work with, we're looking at NIL deals for 20-30 players. Thoughts?

FOOTBALL RELEASE: Perkins an Honorable Mention Freshman All-American

Iowa State Media Relations

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State freshman punter Tyler Perkins has been named an honorable mention freshman All-American by College Football News.

Perkins, a Norwalk, Ohio, native, earned the starting punter role in fall camp and never relinquished it. He punted 50 times for an average of 42.2 yards per kick, the fourth-best freshman average in school history.

Of his 50 punts, 40 percent (20) of the punts were fair caught for no return. He landed 19 punts inside the 20 and had nine kicks of 50 or more yards, including a 61-yarder against Baylor.

Iowa State allowed just 2.6 yards per punt return, which ranks among the top-10 teams nationally.

OT: Dead puppies in portal

Sorry for those who hate Hawkeye posts on here - but this is funny to me.

Last week Iowa gets commitment from the Michigan QB via transfer portal - paraphrasing attitude from Hawk fans:

“Kirk is the new king of the portal. Look for good things to come from NiL! This just the beginning!

This week, Iowa has now lost Caleb Johnson, Arland Bruce, Jestin Jacobs etc etc to the portal:

“Tampering! WTF! Why would ANYONE transfer out with our squad next year?!”

Special kind of stupid.

Duke Iowa

Duke running away with this one 67-52 w 4:30 left. Was hoping for a triple OT loss by Iowa getting them home at 4 AM, but a good old fashioned whoopin’ works too.

Duke Vitale just mentioned that Duke shut down Murray completely, and that was a key. Brockington shut down Keegan last year w a great defensive effort.

FOOTBALL RELEASE: Hutchinson a CBS Sports All-American

Iowa State Media Relations

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State wide receiver Xavier Hutchinson has been named a CBS Sports Second-Team All-American.

The Biletnikoff Award finalist leads all FBS players averaging 8.9 receptions per game after breaking his own school record with 107 receptions this season. The senior also topped the career record that was previously held by Allen Lazard with 254 career receptions.

Hutchinson, a senior from Jacksonville, Florida, has 45 more receptions than the next best Big 12 player and has 1,171 receiving yards, the most in the conference and the seventh-most nationally. He finished the season with six receiving touchdowns.

He was an extremely consistent threat for the Cyclone offense, catching at least eight passes in 11 of 12 games.

Hutchinson is the 12th Cyclone to earn All-America honors under head coach Matt Campbell.

FOOTBALL RECRUITING Hammond set to open up his recruitment, likely staying closer to home

I just received word from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas defensive lineman Jason Hammond that he will be de-committing from Iowa State. He sites family issues and wanting to stay closer to home and says there have been recent deaths in the family and he feels it's important for others in his family to be able to see him play more frequently. I can certainly get it. Says he's informed the Iowa State staff and other recruits in this class.

I can envision him ending up at UCF.
