FOOTBALL RECRUITING ***Ngoyi provides update on his Iowa State commitment status***

With a new coaching staff on board in his home town, it only made sense that Lincoln (Neb.) wide receiver Beni Ngoyi would get some late interest from the new leader of the Huskers' program Matt Rhule.

That was indeed the case for the 6-foot-4, 188-pound senior, who reported that Nebraska was in recently and is trying to flip him from his Cyclone commitment.

Did they make any headway, Ngoyi was asked.

"The new Nebraska staff came in last week to check me out and meet with them," said Ngoyi. "They were good people but i feel like Iowa State is home still."

A three-star prospect with a 5.6 Rivals rating, Ngoyi was, surprisingly, lightly-recruited by the former staff in Lincoln led by Scott Frost. The Huskers still offered, but didn't seem to make him a priority. In addition to ISU and Nebraska, he compiled a Power-5 offer list that included the likes of Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, and Washington.

He is one of three wide receivers in Iowa State's class, along with Florida native Michael Parkes and local product Kai Black.

Transfer portal and NIL from another HC's perspective

I see a lot of parallels to what the Washington State coach is going through to that of Iowa State. I've heard rumblings of tampering going on with some current ISU players, too. However, the staff seems to be doing a good job of keeping them on board this offseason. So, props to @bcblum & his group for making a positive impact in year one.

As I had mentioned in another thread yesterday, Centerville (Ohio) senior Joseph Jean-Louis hosted Iowa State LBs coach Tyson Veidt in-school yesterday and in-home last night. I'm hearing JJL was really impressed with the presentation and has canceled his weekend official visit to Western Michigan. The LB has told me he's enrolling mid-year and plans to announce his commitment on signing day. All indications are his choice will be Iowa State.
