Rotting chicken

I bought some chicken from the bargain bin at my grocery store, which has a 5 for $25 section in the meat department. The selections in this section are mostly meat, but there are other things, like cheese and pickles etc. So I got a package of chicken thighs and one of drumsticks, along with two packages of pork ribs and a package of jumbo hot dogs. Not bad for $25, I thought.

Well, I get the chicken home and as I'm opening up the packages I detect a whiff of decay. I'm really hesitant to go any further, but I carry on and season up both packages so I have leftovers, and stick it in the oven for 50 minutes.

First bite of a thigh, is weird, I spit that out and take up a drumstick. First bite also weird. I spit that out. I don't really know at this point if it's the chicken or the seasoning, which is a brand I'm trying out for the first time, sort of like shake and bake but a different brand. Rather than take any chances, I threw both pieces of chicken away and will wind up throwing the whole thing away. That's 4 chicken thighs and about 7-8 drumsticks. It wasn't such a great buy after all.

Arizona Win at Utah could be problematic

Arizona's win at Utah puts them in prime position to make the Big XII Championship.

Their schedule is pretty easy.

Here is their schedule:
Tech
@ BYU
CU
WVU
@ UCF
UH
@ TCU
ASU

Maybe they lose one game? Maybe two if BYU and UCF can pull it off? But they should be talked about in the race since the KSU loss didn't count in the standings.

BYU has a path as well:
AZ
OSU
@ UCF
@ Utah
KU
@ ASU
UH

I don't see any big hiccups their either. That win against KSU was huge for them. Only UCF and Utah are problems for BYU but because we don't play BYU and AZ, it's hard to get the tiebreakers against them.

Obviously, we just need to keep winning and everything will take care of themselves.

This could be a special season for ISU as well. Our schedule is not terrible either until the end of the year.

UDATED : Still Way too early bowl projections

(SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATED PROJECTION AFTER WEEK 5)

Please don't shoot the messenger. To have Michigan slotted over us right now...bull.

But, these do provide a couple intriguing matchups. This is ESPN Plus (subscription required), so I'm copying the link and listing the two prognosticators projections:

Texas Bowl
NRG Stadium (Houston)
3:30 p.m., ESPN

Bonagura: Iowa State vs. Oklahoma
Schlabach: Kansas State vs. Oklahoma

Pop-Tarts Bowl
Camping World Stadium (Orlando, Florida)
3:30 p.m., ABC

Bonagura: Louisville vs. UCF
Schlabach: Notre Dame vs. Iowa State

At any rate...better than seeing Iowa State vs. Memphis projected...

Hmmm.

This has been out there for a while but was brought to light again today in a subcommittee hearing. Trump’s directive related to security for January 6th:

Milley: "The President just says, 'Hey, look at this. There's going to be a large amount of protestors here on the 6th, make sure that you have sufficient National Guard or Soldiers to make sure it's a safe event.'

..[POTUS said] I don't care if you use Guard, or Soldiers, active duty Soldiers, do whatever you have to do. Just make sure it's safe.' [SecDefl Miller responds by saying, 'Hey, we've got a plan, and we've got it covered.'"

There’s more to all of this but this reinforces again that Trump directed there be enough security to ensure the protests were “patriotic and peaceful”. He was ignored with a set of big double barreled middle fingers.

SEC defenses (in a rumbling, reverent tone)

The media's hypocrisy about the SEC has been pointed out before but their gushing about the Bama/UGA game (it was entertaining) contradicts their previous narrative of SEC defenses/Big 12's zero defenses. Don't forget Saban lobbied against the tempo offenses claiming players would get injured. Guess what? When you recruit good qbs, skilled offensive players, & have coaches that think beyond dives & play action, points get scored. Annoying.
