Good ISU segment on GameDay

It’s roughly at the 20 minute mark. Sabin said our team has a winning identity. He really likes Rocco and said he’ll get lots of recognition as the year goes on. Howard quoted our impressive defensive stats. Herbie was complementary and thought we would win tonight. Pat McAfee is a Mountaineer and mentioned that Anthony Becht was as well.

Worth watching if you have it recorded.

Algona Recruits

Good news, bad news, very bad news.

Limbaugh had a great game on defense and a good game on offense. That is the good news.

Manske threw TD to end game, but the 2 pt conversion was no good and Algona lost 21-20 to Humboldt. That is the bad newsm

The really bad news is it was Sophomore Nathan Manske who threw the TD pass as Alex was injured early in the 3rd quarter with an apparent arm/shoulder injury and did not play the rest of the way. I will post more when I hear more.

Ironically, Alex had his first action as a Freshman in relief of his older brother, who was a 3 year starter. It would appear the Manske's will provide 8 years of starting QB for AHS.

Neal Brown

This is a nightmare scenario, I know, but I'm a Cyclone fan and I have to worry about something since the football team is not giving me much to worry about. I hope Brown wins the rest of his games or we might lose our QB. My reasoning may seem convoluted, so bear with me. If W. Va. fires Brown at the end of the season, wouldn't it stand to reason that Anthony Becht would be right at the top of their list for a replacement? He has head coaching experience and he's an alum. If W. Va. were to hire Becht, wouldn't Rocco want to transfer to play for his father? Just something that keeps me awake at night.

Although if the W. Va. message board from last night is any indication, the fans are not too enamored of Becht. One was wondering why they didn't recruit him out of high school and another said he did visit, but he was 5-9 and 150 and they had a better prospect in Nicco Marchiol, who was a four-star recruit. I would have pointed out that Becht was also a four-star recruit, but I wasn't registered to post on their board. Also, they didn't seem too knowledgeable about Becht, stating that Iowa State was his only Division 1 offer. Ole Miss and Wake Forest were among his 10 offers. Marchiol had 28 offers, many blue bloods among them.

A potential CCG conundrum

ISU, BYU, and TTU are all 3-0. Unless I misread the schedule, not out of the realm these days, they don’t play each other. Thus all three could end up undefeated. What would that tiebreaker be? Neither BYU or ISU have lost a non-conference game. What if one of them is the odd team out and finishes 12-0? Think they could still make the playoffs? More like would they with the heavy Big 10/SEC bias?

Couldn't Have Picked a Better Away Game to Attend

.....Undefeated Cyclones vs. West Virginia

•.First time visit to Morgantown
•Looking forward to Mountaineer hospitality
•Sampling moonshine a bonus (or not?) 😁 •The game has been dubbed the "Coal Rush" game- homage to the state's coal industry
• WV is breaking out the alternate black uniforms. Matt Campbell should feel right at home.
