NCAA 2023 MBB sweet 16 (and elite 8) in KC

Maybe I've missed it if discussed recently but just realized that Hilton South (T Mobile, formerly Sprint Center) is the host of Midwest regional semis and finals. If we can get a 4/5 seed (or better) what are the chances we could have opportunity to end up in KC for sweet 16 (hopefully after first 2 rounds in DSM ideally)? I know, I know there's plenty of season to be played and I'm putting the cart before the horse, etc, but it's fun to dream right? Chicago has been fun for sweet 16 but KC would be another level, imo. Of course KU could also be a top seed down there so it'd be like the Big 12 tourney on steroids as far as KU and ISU fans down there prob. Anyway, I just tried to get a few hotel rooms down at KC downtown Marriott, where the ISU team always stays for Big 12 tourney, and of course they're sold out the dates of March 23-26. I'm sure the NCAA has blocks reserved for teams of course. I went ahead and found rooms at the Hilton President. Never stayed there during Big 12 but close proximity to P&L. Rooms can be canceled of course. It's good to have options ;-). Anyone else crazy and plan like this in advance for different travel scenarios for our Clones?

OT - R.I.P. Jeff Beck

Found out about this today. As a guitarist and huge Beck fan, my heart hurts. He was supremely talented and influenced multiple generations.

NCAA hoops redshirt rules question

Anyone know what the rules are for qualifying for redshirt in hoops? I look at Eli King and he seems like a guy that could be a really good piece in due time, just not now. I think he has played 5 games thus far this season which I'm sure number of games is probably part of the equation, but what about playing late in the season? In other words, what if he stays under the number of games criteria but we trot him out there in February when we are blowing someone out, does that matter?

Thanks.

Reactions: Coach Goins

I’m a glass half-empty kind of guy &

not particularly fond of hyperbole, but with each passing game CTJO makes me feel more & more that he could be ISU’s version of Coach K. National prestige with many conference ships & perhaps a Natty or three… Is that just crazy talk?!? It would be insane to achieve at that kind of level for say a couple decades at ISU especially with how the college landscape is entirely different now in the NIL/transfer era…

Texas Tech postgame

Tech's coach, Mark Adams, who looks like he should be wearing a leather apron and working behind a cobbler's bench instead of coaching basketball, called the blowout loss the best news they could have. He said they've been "wallowing around in mediocrity," losing all these close games and this blowout is a wake-up call for his team. Way to put a good spin on an absolute shellacking, there, Gepetto.

Purdy sniffing some rarefied air

I had no idea on some of these milestones he could accomplish. This story is on the front page of the ESPN website.
