High School playoffs (Kohl)

Watched 1st half of game vs Sioux City East. East has a pretty good DL and pressured Kohl a bit. He looked decent. Receivers didn't. He's a long ways from supplanting Deckers imo but should be a good one. Didn't watch 2nd half but see Ankeny won 17-0. East's QB and WR have set all kinds of school records but looked bad last night. Course their stats are somewhat overstated with a 73-0 win over SC West when the QB threw 9 TD passes. I'm in SBL so not a big East fan.

Halloween party living in Kansas?

Invited to a Halloween party on Saturday. I have been in the Overland Park, KS area for almost 30 years. Most at the party are Kansas, Kansas State fans some Missouri. I want to make a list of 20 or so points that we as Cyclones hate about those three schools. All in fun a really good group of guys. #1 for me is Kansas State and the cow bell. Had three of them in Ames behind me a few years back that were relentless. I appreciate any you might have that would be fun to give them heck about. Going to bring a soap box with me to announce as the evening progresses. Go Cyclones!

Time to fix this

Okay, we don't know who you are, but if you read this, you will. One amongst us made a grave error, an innocent error, that has had serious consequences.
Now is the time to own up and do whatever is necessary to make it right again.
I've figured it out. I don't have the exact details, but it went down something like this.
It was the night before the Iowa game. Maybe you were at the middle urinal at the airliner or having a Gyro by the Three Ladies Pissing Statue. Maybe you were at your Hawkeye in-laws house sleeping in the guest room with a Herky clock on the wall at midnight. I don't know for sure, but one of those Jumanji or 80s movie where two people switch bodies things happened. You said something like, "I would rather go winless in the Big XII than lose to Iowa." We know you didn't really mean it, but when you looked straight at the Tiger Hawk or that Goth wannabee in the Ped Mall, it happened. Your wish came true and the cosmic forces were disrupted.
We all know that sinister forces are at work here. Our one good win this year is to Iowa. Normally, that would be a good win, but they have the worst offense in all of Power 5 football.
Before that game, before you accidently uttered that incantation while the big Herky wing and the little Herky wing touched on the 12, we had a decent running game along with a great D and a promising young QB. Now we have a win over Iowa and a lot of disappointment.
It's time to fix this. Whatever it takes. Whatever! Maybe you have to tell your father-in-law that Herky sucks. Maybe you need to run through the Ped Mall naked. I don't know. But it's time to reverse that Herky curse and get back to Iowa State football.
For the rest of us, we need to do our part. Wear your lucky Cyclone socks or undies or the ugly Cy shirt that your mother-in-law bought you even though she is an Iowa grad. Whatever it takes. I don't know, but we need to have another big Win against Oklahoma like we did when the unlikeliest of heroes, Kyle Kempt, led us to victory and began a new era of Cyclone football.
Let's Do It.

FOOTBALL ***Iowa State vs. Oklahoma game prediction thread***

It's Oklahoma week, so let's get rolling with those predictions for the game against the Sooners.

1) Winner & margin of victory. (ex: Iowa State by six)
2) Total points scored. (ex: 52 points)

The Sooners are currently being favored by 1.5 points (the line opened at 6.5) and the over/under is 55.5 points.

Number one will be the first determiner and then I'll take whoever gets closest to the total points.

Contest winners will be rewarded as follows: first place (three free months added to your subscription); second place (two free months); third place (one free month).

FOOTBALL ***The Ultimate Preview: Iowa State vs. Oklahoma***

Should be another close game between these two teams, and of course for a Cyclone team that has played in a bunch of them in conference play. But I'm going against the grain this week and picking the Cyclones to pull one out and win a one-score game for just the second time in their past 10 contests.

Newsom calls out gas companies and prices drop

And plans to deal with price gouging and prices drop in a week.....imagine that. Record profits....lying about inflation....

Oops.

Newsom gaining political clout. He was recently interviewed and went down the list of crime riddled red states that all top the list of taking federal assistance as well as having the worst crime numbers.

Odd...but fox news said! LOL

Independents and democrats have been waiting for someone to call it as it is and stop catering to right wing nonsense. Newsom will rock right wing agendas across the nation if he keeps gaining in popularity.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Iowa State senior Osun Osunniyi has been named to the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award Watch List, announced Friday by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The initial watch list recognizes 20 players, as the award is handed out to the top center in men’s college basketball.

A transfer from St. Bonaventure, Osunniyi started 32 games for the Bonnies during the 2021-22 season. He led the team with 7.5 rebounds and 2.9 blocked shots per game as he helped lead the Bonnies to the NIT Semifinals. Osunniyi led the Bonnies in field goal percentage at 61.3 percent, while averaging 11.3 points per game. The two-time Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year, Osunniyi was named to the Lefty Driesell Defensive All-American Team last year.

“Rounding out the Men’s Starting Five Watch List is the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award. The student-athletes on this list should feel tremendously proud of all they have accomplished to be associated with basketball’s all-time leading scorer,” said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame. “With his focus on both education and athletics, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s perspective is cherished by our committee when evaluating talent each year.”
