stock market

At this point, I feel lucky that my investment fund is down less than 13 percent for the year. For a minute there, it was looking pretty bleak, so bleak that I actually called my adviser and asked if there was any way we could just pull my funds out of the market and hold it as cash until the market calmed down again, but she talked me out of it at that point when I was down 15 percent on my investment. I'm usually a hands off kind of guy, so it was very unusual for me to make that sort of call. The market has bounced back nicely the past couple of months though, so I'm feeling fortunate I listened to her. I'm still down for the year, but it's much less bleak looking than it had been. Knock on wood, it keeps up the momentum.

Southeast Recruiting Spotlight: Rising 2024 Florida QB Trever Jackson

No quotes on ISU. Posting as a player to watch. ISU has been in touch with him, as recent as a couple of days ago.

Hypothetical

We have a solid returning QB. Has some warts, but also has some skills. Biggest issue is TD/TO ratio, but not the only one.

We have an incoming highly rated QB who will be enrolled in January.

We also have a red-shirt Freshman with a good pedigree.

Do you go after a red-shirt Senior/Covid Senior for competion? Good thing or not?

MBB Player Development

When I saw the size of the big dude from SJU, I thought "Uh oh". As the game went on, I suddenly realized he hadn't effected the game at all. Jones & Osunniyi had rendered him an afterthought. Think back to Jones last year and then compare to this year....wow. Same with Grill. His impact on the game is much more amplified than last year. The defensive rebound he had late in the game was damn impressive. His ability to secure the ball that far away from where he was was eye popping. And Kunc (The Llama)....that guy just makes things flow better. I remember Ejim bristling when Fraschilla called him a "glue guy", but I always thought that was one of the highest praises you could bestow on a player. The Llama is a glue guy. I remember the first several games last year with him. I was skeptical even though I had heard TJ & Co were surprised by how good Kunc was. I remember thinking, "You're surprised he's this good? GD." Well. he proved me wrong and he is even better this year. This roster has warts just like last year's, but this staff's ability to define roles, develop, and hold players accountable will go a very long way. BTW, Watson showed he belongs last night.

Ruhle Going After Cyclone Recruit In Their Backyard

This was on line from one of the NE papers:

Rhule didn’t have to venture far from the office at Memorial Stadium for one of his first visits. Rhule stopped by Lincoln High to check in on 2023 wide receiver Beni Ngoyi, who has been committed to Iowa State since July. Ngoyi had over a dozen Power Five offers, and his final three included Nebraska and Washington.
That didn’t stop Rhule from making his pitch.
“Beni had a good visit with him and I think he feels good about it,” said Lincoln High head coach Mark Macke. “Coach (Rhule) is pretty impressive; you can tell he’s been down this road before and this is something he’s good at — going in, talking to kids and recruiting.”

Macke has led the Lincoln High program since 2011 and said this is the first time a Nebraska head coach has come to the school.

Craft beers in Panama, IA.

I know there are some self described craft beer connoisseurs on Cyclone Report. Just wanted to give a shout out to one heck of a Craft Beer selection located 15 miles from me in Panama, IA. The "Bent Rim" in Panama is where this all happens.
Saturday Night, the wife and I attended a surprise Birthday party held there for a Cyclone friend. Now mind you, I can't vouch for the taste of any of them, as I stuck to the cans of Mich Ultra offered in a cooler that were left over from the Auctioneer's last tailgate, but I was blown away by the sheer number of variations of craft beer.
The Bent Rim is in a building that was once a hopping service station in Panama back in the day. One can rent the entire building for Birthday parties and other fun functions. The rental fee is around $200, and with that you get the selection of crafts.
I am told that if one rents it and makes out the check to "Shelby County trails", the entire proceeds are donated to said trail system.
Again I just wanted to give the place some props on here. Thanks!
