Lemon out at CNN, Tucker out at Fox

Not necessarily surprising on either count.

I personally am a big fan of Tucker. But, I have a feeling he could be an arrogant jerk behind the scenes. The lawsuit just settled being sited as likely culprit to his dismissal.

Lemon ticked off even his co-workers and many on the liberal side. The recent "women in their prime" may have been the nail in the coffin.

Both will resurface somewhere. Pretty big coincidence both gone on the same day.

Tucker will be a far bigger loss to Fox than Lemon will to CNN.

Maybe they can co-host a show together 🤣

***RELEASE: Saia Big 12 Coach of the Year; ISU recognized in league awards

AMES, Iowa – For the second time in the last three seasons Iowa State tennis head coach Boomer Saia has been named Big 12 Coach of the Year in a vote of his peers as the league handed out its annual awards.

The Cyclones were heavily recognized in the honors after Saia led the group to an 18-5 overall record and a 7-2 mark in conference action. The seven league wins were the most in school history and secured the first winning season in conference play in program history.

The honor was the second of Saia’s five-year Cyclone coaching career after he won the honor in 2021. This season, in addition to the success in league action, Saia led the Cyclones to the ITA National Indoor Championships, reaching the semifinals. ISU also beat Texas and Oklahoma State for the first time in school history, snapping skids of 26 matches and 49 matches, respectively.

Iowa State also claimed the singles position champions at the No. 2 and No. 5 slots with Ange Oby Kajuru and Sofia Cabezas. Kajuru went 6-2 in conference play at No. 2 singles, while Cabezas was 5-1 against league foes at No. 5 singles.

The Cyclones also had the position champs at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles after the two pairings went a combined 13-3 in Big 12 play. At No. 2, Kajuru and freshman Xinyi Nong were 7-1. Cabezas teamed up with Miska Kadleckova at No. 3 doubles to go 6-2.

ISU also placed two players on the All-Big 12 singles teams and two doubles pairs on the All-Big 12 doubles teams.

After earning second team honors as a freshman, Kajuru took home First Team All-Big 12 accolades this season. Kadleckova earned her second career honor, earning a second team pick for the second time in her career (2021).

In doubles, Kajuru and Nong were First Team All-Big 12 and Kadleckova and Cabezas earned second team recognition.

FOOTBALL RECRUITING ***STORY: A little "Throwback Thursday" to the first piece I wrote on Will McDonald***

One of the coolest aspects of this gig is to cover someone as a high school prospect all the way through his Iowa State career and watch him get drafted into the NFL. I thought it'd be cool to link this piece I published on Will way back in July of 2017 during the summer leading up to his senior season at Waukesha (Wisc.) North High School.

Could FSU and Clemson actually Pay other schools to leave the ACC?

Interesting video on realignment involving the ACC schools. Clemson and FSU are definitely not going to stay in the ACC long term. They can not afford to pay the buyout right now, but by 2030 or so they will. But if the ACC has 8 teams vote to disband, it is all over for the ACC, and everyone is free t go. ND does not have a vote. So FSU and Clemson and maybe 2 more could actually decide to pay roughly 50-60M to 4 other schools each, for all 8 to abandon the ACC together. They would easily be able to cover this from the additional they would be making in the Big 10 or SEC. And the 4 teams getting paid would be in line for joining the Big 12 and not getting left behind.

Makes complete sense when you watch the video ACC realignment scenario.

FOOTBALL Updated offensive scholarship chart

It appears that sometime between the start of spring practice and now, reserve offensive lineman Sam Rengert left the program. I haven't seen any type of portal announcement from him, so maybe he's simply moving on. He would be a redshirt junior, so perhaps already has his degree.

Rengert's departure brings my estimated scholarship count down to 87.

Hilton Magic Recognition I never Expected

So I'm out and about in JAX about an hour ago. Travels take me thru and intersection oft frequented by those claiming to be "homeless", etc., with their cardboard signage. So I'm in the left turn lane, second car back. The guy working the median saunters up to the front of the median and turns to walk back along the line of cars. I have a Iowa State Logo plate on the front of my truck. He's looking at it. As he walks by, he says; "Ain't no Hilton Magic around here." I'm flabergasted! I literally had zero money with me. Not even loose change. He would have received a contribution had I had some. If not for his situation, then for his reference. Couldn't read his sign well enough but he did "look" down on his luck. Probably the most surprising regonition of ISU I've ever experienced.

AMES, Iowa – The streak continues.

Iowa State has earned its 13th-straight trip to an NCAA Women’s Golf Regional. The Cyclones were selected to play in the NCAA Westfield Regional, May 8-10 in Westfield, Ind., as the No. 4 seed.

The NCAA Westfield Regional will be held at The Club at Chatham Hills with Mississippi State University as the host. The top five teams in the six regionals will advance to the NCAA Championships, May 19-24 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. The two individuals in each regional not among the teams advancing will also punch a ticket to Scottsdale.

This marks the 17th time and the 13th year in a row (1993-96, 2010-23) Iowa State has qualified for an NCAA Regional. In 2014, the Cyclones advanced to the NCAA Championships for the first and only time in school history, qualifying out of the NCAA West Regional held at Tumble Creek in Cle Elum, Wash.

Yellowstone

Am I the only one who thinks the current season is a major letdown from previous seasons?

First, the wrapping of the season 3 final seemed hurried, aside from Jamie and Garrett.

Second, they have so many side stories going on that none of them are going anywhere. Pretty boring.

Obviously, Jamie and Beth are going to have an explosion. But the rest is Mumbo Jumbo.
