Radio during lunch..

I was running an errand at lunch today and had KXNO on. The two on the radio were just going on about how "they" just need to announce who the athletes are that have gambled and hand down the penalties already. Iowa State only won one game last year and with these penalties it's going to be worse this year. They mentioned our team has some good pieces, the D will be pretty good but the offense is going to stink since we do not have a QB. Also mentioned that Vegas should not be allowing any bets with ISU as a part of them because of the penalties to come.

Thoughts?

Hunter

How we feeling about his crimes? Fair sentence?

Joe has said repeatedly his son did nothing wrong. Lie. He said he’s proud of his son yesterday. Really? Joe constantly preaches about rich people “paying their fair share,” yet Hunter doesn’t pay taxes for two years on millions of income? No big deal. People are regularly sent to prison for lying on federal documents like Hunter did. No special treatment here at all.

And these three charges don’t even get into buying and using crack, hookers, etc., which are felonies. But put the guy who wandered around the Capitol in solitary! What a joke.

***RELEASE: Carr, Schuyler Named CSC First Team Academic All-America***

Iowa State Media Relations

AMES, Iowa – David Carr and Sam Schuyler have been named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America First Team, the organization announced Wednesday.

Carr and Schuyler, who were named to the CSC Academic All-District At-Large team last month, both make the All-America team for the first time in their careers.

Carr put together an outstanding season on the mat, finishing with a 27-1 record. He became the first Cyclone since 2002 to win a fourth Big 12 title and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler in the process. The Canton, Ohio native navigated a loaded 165-pound bracket at the NCAA Championships and finished as the national runner-up.

Schuyler posted a 20-5 record in his final season as a Cyclone. He logged 12 wins against ranked opponents, including seven against wrestlers ranked in the top 15. The Kings Park, N.Y. native was the Big 12 runner-up at heavyweight and reached the Round of 12 at the NCAA Championships, finishing one win shy of All-American status.

Carr and Schuyler were also First Team Academic All-Big 12 selections and NWCA scholar All-Americans this season.

Carr posted a 3.86 GPA while Schuyler earned a 4.0 mark during the 2022-23 school year. Both are studying in the education graduate program.

Back online

My power has been out since late Saturday night, early Sunday morning after a storm and just turned back on slightly before noon. Got a fridge full of spoiled food now. A lot went on for the Cyclones during my blackout. Four commitments to the football team, if I'm counting right?

And before you go and ask, I can't keep up with this site on my phone because I only have a very limited amount of data and the hotel I've been staying in didn't have free wifi. Even more bad luck for me, the power company had been emailing me about the progress of getting the lights back on and the latest update said they planned to have it on by tomorrow (Wednesday) at 10 p.m. So I booked the hotel for one more night. They informed me it was back on 45 minutes after checkout, so I guess I'm going back there tonight.
