Amazing strides by this team

Really impressive and my reservations about Nate are pretty much gone. Wondering how much of that is Matt giving him full reign? We may never know but my guess is Matt felt a little heat from Big Donor frustrations passed to him through JP after yet another early season tire spinning and the cocktail napkin playbook pre-OU game? Regardless, this season now has so much potential! It's like added excitement each week to see just how much more they improve! Trying to temper things, dilute Kool-Aid somewhat and I do keep that ISU nutcup close by. This team is still very young but I think this staff, especially the new coaches, are showing incredible promise. Kudos to Matt for making some tough decisions on needed changes. 1 negative thing I hope someone can set me straight on that I brought up once before on a now buried thread .... I'm no defensive coach. I get that. LOVE and trust Heacock. But I am just puzzled beyond belief why Sadowsky plays so many snaps? I mean Ellis rarely plays and he has more total tackles. I have rewatched all the games just focusing on JS. He looks lost. Was hyped pre season. He just runs into line like he's guessing. Do we have no one better at MLB? Whos 2nd string MLB behind him? I feel like I'm picking on him. He's just a FR so I don't blame him. Wondering what I'm missing that the coaches see and perhaps someone with better knowledge or perspective, or insider info can help? TIA

Bowl projections once again fun to check out

With a couple Big 12 wins in a row, Iowa State has started to pop up on a few of these lists.

Iowa State vs. Texas State in the Armed Forces Bowl.

Iowa State vs. Colorado in the Independence Bowl.

Cyclones HOF

I just got done watching the 2023 ISU hall of fame ceremony on cyclones.com. It was held the night before the OSU game. If you are old enough to remember Hercle Ivy and Mike Strachan, like I am, its a treat. These guys are just so appreciative and funny. Strachan especially. Betsy Saina's story is heartwarming. She's only 33 years old, had just won the Sydney marathon and is training to represent the USA in the 2026 Olympics. The ceremony is well done.

Chase Contreraz mention in the Athletic (sub required)

"K Chase Contreraz, Iowa State: Contreraz began his career at Iowa Western Community College, was a walk-on at Nebraska for three years and transferred to prove what he can do at Iowa State. He converted a 56-yarder in his season debut and has made 12 of 16 field-goal tries with six makes from 40-plus yards. He also converted a fake field goal with a 6-yard run to set up a touchdown in a win over Cincinnati."
