***RELEASE: Iowa State-Pitt Wrestling Match Canceled; Basketball Update***

Iowa State Media Relations

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State’s wrestling dual against Pittsburgh scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 14 has been canceled due to ongoing winter weather across the Midwest. Travel difficulties caused by the storm will not allow for the Panthers to safely make the trip to Ames.

The Cyclones are still in action tonight at 5 p.m. against Utah Valley, although fans are strongly encouraged to avoid traveling. Fans can watch the broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+ or tune into the Cyclone Radio Network on the Varsity App.

More information on tonight’s dual can be found here.

As of 3 p.m. on Friday, Saturday’s men’s and women’s basketball games will be played as scheduled. The women will host No. 4 Baylor at noon, while the men play Oklahoma State at 5 p.m.

Because of the winter-weather conditions and travel not being recommended throughout the state, Hilton Coliseum will have limited staff. Access roads, parking lots and sidewalks to Hilton Coliseum may be hazardous.

The ticket office and guest services staff will be limited. Concessions stands may be closed or have limited offerings. Johnny’s will be open for the basketball games but the food and beverage availability may be limited. Stage Door in Scheman is canceled.

Parking lots C1 and C2 will be reserved and all other parking will be general admission on Saturday.

Iowa State encourages fans to consider their safety before electing to travel to Ames for the games. If fans are unable to travel due to weather conditions, the women’s game will be broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+ and the men’s game on ESPN2.

If conditions require a further change, additional information will be sent as soon as possible and posted to Cyclones.com.

WIth Saban retiring

If I have my fact right Nick Sabin left MSU because he felt he could not win a NC there. Which maybe thier should be a handicap index for coaches. Like a plus one to five and a negative one to five. for how hard it is to win at a university. I would say that Iowa State is probably and the index is how many games a coach would win or loss at at university. For example I would give say that a coach at Iowa state is handicap Two games . Where if he was at texas he would win # more games a year.
What do you think the handicap for a coach is at Iowa State or Iowa.

Kelvin Samson Post Game

Is a 68 year old dick.

Not impressed with his post game.

He won't be around much longer. Hope he flames out actually having to play real competition

Watched it on CTV. He looked shell shocked. Does he have a medical condition or maybe he was just pissed about the loss? Quite vague and slow delivery with his answers to questions. Anyway he was very complementary of the crowd, but not the officials. Put the loss on 22 FTs to 12.

KU's Board

I give some of you all a hard time about your "the sky is falling" comments on here, but it turns out, you're not the only ones. :) I've thoroughly enjoyed spying on the Jayhawk's Slant board this morning as I read through the comments of last night's game thread. Here are some of my favorites:

  1. We're horrible
  2. Self totally blew it on team construction
  3. This team has absolutely zero chance of doing anything in the post season
  4. What an embarrassment
  5. This team may be the least enjoyable team for me, ever.
  6. If you don't want the court stormed, win.

I grew up a KU fan, but now that I'm a Cyclone forever, this s*** makes me giggle.

Enjoy the day my friends. See you Saturday.

What others said about the win last night

Fun to read the Iowa thread on last nights game. For those that don’t want to look:
- they were impressed w the defense played by both teams. Something they realize is foreign to their team
- think we have a great coach and are getting the best players in the state
- we are on an upward trajectory vs their sideways to down.
- mystified by the power of the building in throwing teams off at the start of a game
- generally jealous

Shout out to the Crowd Last Night!

Despite the weather and the students being gone, that was an awesome showing. Looked like 13,000. I know a lot of people sent their tickets to local rowdies.

I watched a little of the Creighton game last night and the crowd looked 50%. Our storm in Omaha was over 4-6 hours sooner than in Ames. They were playing the weak DePaul team, but still no excuse.

Democrats are closing schools just to house ILLEGAL immigrants.

What an incredible policy starting yesterday, New York City is shutting down a High School and telling the poor kids that they will now be taught remotely, just so they can move 2,000 illegal immigrants into the high school. This is really going to screw over minorities, who are in this poor high school, just to allow Biden to keep running the replacement theory policy. F#ck real Americans, they are willing to destroy the lives of kids who are already disadvantaged, for freaking illegals!
