The Big 12 announced the Conference scheduling format for the 2024-25 men's and women's basketball season. The 2024-25 season marks the Big 12's first with 16 member institutions.

Opponents were selected based on a combination of geography, historical results and a poll of the coaches to best balance the schedule in terms of travel and competitiveness. A full Big 12 schedule will be released at a later date.

So how will Iowa gaming commission stop Cedar Rapids Casino this time?

The 2 year moratorium on new casinos ends this week. So how will the state gaming commission screw over CR this time? They have been screwing over CR since gambling started in this state. The problem is that they have casinos around CR (roughly 50 miles in any direction), and the casinos all get customers from CR/IC. So the second largest metro area in the state is not allowed to have a casino, just so they can keep casinos in the rural part of the state going. They put casinos in the wrong parts of the state.

***Traveling the next couple of days***

I'm en route to Jacksonville this morning and will be catching a bit of the Rivals Five-Star this afternoon. A couple of Iowa State recruits are meeting up with me at the event, which is held inside the Jaguars' practice facility. I'll be talking to recent DL commit Bernard Carter & DB priority Joshua Patterson, a borderline four-star and strong Cyclone lean who plans to announce his commitment on July 4th. I have Patterson as an Iowa State FutureCast.

Tomorrow is the Rivals Publishers Conference, which is back in action after a lengthy hiatus. It'll be great to catch up with my fellow site publishers, Rivals analysts & Yahoo Sports execs. I'll be flying back on Friday, just in time to catch Mr. & Mrs. @Herdcyclones marry off their son on Saturday.

For Those Who Love Wrestling

Bill...if sharing this link isn't allowed, please delete. I grabbed the link off of Facebook.

But this coming Saturday, at a little bend in the road called Big Rock on the western Scott/eastern Clinton County line, a memorial plaque honoring legendary pioneer wrestler Martin "Farmer" Burns will be unveiled in a little grassy park. Word has it that Dan Gable and a few other notable fellas from the wrestling world will be on hand.

Farmer Burns is buried in a cemetery at a slightly larger bend in the same blacktop road about 10 miles to the north in Toronto, north of Wheatland. The farm where I grew up was about 2 miles south of Toronto.

For those who know the history of early wrestling in Iowa...well, you know.

Can Tapper-Bash save the Democratcy?

No, that’s not a misspelling. It’s no secret the Liberal State media desires one -party rule. The biggest obstacle is the orange meany that Tapper has compared to Hitler. Dana never misses a chance to Bash him either. While Biden will supposedly not have a tele-prompter or anyone providing answers through an ear piece, you can bet the CNN/Democratcy “fact-checkers” will be in Jake’s and Dana’s ears attempting to neutralize anything Trump says.

Camper and dad commentary on summer camps

Talked to a co-worker who brought his son (a rising senior)and attended 4 football camps this summer. ISU, Iowa, KU, and KSU. His son is not D1 material, but has his sites set on going to a DII school. So he went to these camps to not only learn, but get in front of college coaches.

Not much, below, but here are some takeaways I got from him:
ISU and Iowa were very organized and little time wasted. KU was the least attended. He said their camp seemed somewhat disjointed, but he equated that to the disruptions of the stadium work, not necessarily to improper prep. He said K-State had coaches hollering at each other at times. They didn't have the stations prepped and coaches were arguing about who was to be at what spot.

ISU and Iowa had many other college coaches in attendance. The son scored a couple DII coaches contacts because of them being there. My co-worker said he noted at least 20 different school logos represented at ISU, and probably more. He said the 2 Kansas schools hardly had any other coaches there, which was disappointing to them.

Leipold of KU was the head coach who had the most "on the ground" time of any of the 4 head coaches. Ferentz only came out to talk at the end. Campbell and Kleiman were coming and going throughout.

KSU had the most college players helping and were generally put in charge of HS Freshmen and Sophomore campers. That subset of campers got the least amount of staff coaching.

In short, equally and most impressed with ISU and Iowa, ok with KU, and not overly impressed with KSU.
