AMES, Iowa – Iowa State men’s basketball coach T.J. Otzelberger has announced the addition of Eastern Washington transfer Mason Williams to the 2025-26 Iowa State roster. Williams is the second transfer to commit to the Cyclones, joining Purdue Fort Wayne transfer Eric Mulder.

Williams is a 6-5 guard out of Seattle that prepped at O’Dea. Williams played the last two seasons for the Eagles and will have two years of eligibility at Iowa State.

He started 22 of the 27 games he played in for Eastern Washington last season, missing five games with an injury early in the season. He averaged a career-best 13.9 points to go along with 3.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. He ranked ninth in the Big Sky in scoring last season, while being second in the league in free throw percentage at 83.7 percent.

“Mason brings great size and length at the guard position on both sides of the floor,” Otzelberger said. “He has a natural ability and craftiness to score in a variety of ways. He does a great job of using his basketball IQ and skill set to put pressure on the defense and make plays for others. Mason is a high-character individual who takes tremendous pride in his work ethic and development.

Williams scored in double figures in 17 of the 27 games he played, including seven games with 20 or more points. He scored a career-high 35 points on 12-o-f15 shooting at Idaho State. He also had games with 29 points in a victory over Sacramento State and 28 points against Montana. Williams finished the year with back-to-back 20-point performances. In the third game of the season, he scored 20 points at Missouri. In 44 career games played, Williams is averaging 10.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game, while shooting 43.1 percent from the field and 37.2 percent from downtown.
