AMES, Iowa – Iowa State men’s basketball coach T.J. Otzelberger has announced the addition of Purdue Fort Wayne transfer Eric Mulder to the 2025-26 Iowa State roster. Mulder is the first transfer to commit to the Cyclones and will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Mulder is a 6-8 forward out of Oskaloosa, having prepped at Pella Christian. Mulder played for the Mastodons the last three seasons. He led Pella Christian to the 2020 and 2022 Iowa High School State Tournament, including a trip to the semifinals in 2022.

He started 23 of the 24 games he played in for Purdue Fort Wayne last season, having suffered an injury in the middle of the year that caused him to miss time. He averaged a career-best 8.4 points to go along with 6.7 rebounds per game.

“A guy that will do the dirty work, Eric is a hard-working traditional big man,” Otzelberger said. “He has shown the capability to make multiple efforts on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he is efficient and always makes the simple plays. On the defensive end, he is someone who can finish possessions on the glass and protects the rim.”

Mulder scored in double figures in 12 of the 24 games he played, while tallying three double-doubles last season. He had 12 points, 11 rebounds and two steals at Penn State. In 91 career games, he has averaged 5.7 points and 5.4 rebounds, while shooting 71.4 percent from the field. He scored a career-high 19 points against Detroit Mercy, while also pulling down 10 rebounds for one of his six career double-doubles. He has nine career games with double-figure rebounds, including a career-high 15 against Tarleton State in a victory in the 2024 CIT Tournament. He shot 78.4 percent on two-point shots last season, the highest percentage in the country.
