I didn't see this mentioned in the thread about Kansas State's coaching change. Sorry if it's been discussed elsewhere. Even sorrier if it turns out to be not true.
I'm in a discussion group with half a dozen old Big Eight guys, including a couple of KSU fans. They posted today about an editorial in the Manhattan paper bitching about the buyout for Snyder. Apparently he had a clause in his contract calling for him to be paid $3 million if he was fired without cause....and they're paying it. In addition to the $250K a year he's going to get in his new role as ambassador for KSU sports or somesuch.
My friends are upset with the newspaper for making waves, but if I were them, I'd be upset at paying the money. My friend said the official university line is that although it wasn't required, he deserves the $3 million for all he's done for Kansas State. But apparently rumors in the Little Apple say he wanted to stay at the helm.
