I went to see my daughter in Waverly this afternoon. Took a few blacktops to see the fields a little closer. My windshield inspection showed the crops look great in spite of being short on rainfall. I received 5.5" of rain the last week of June.l but a paltry 1/2" in July. None of the crops between Eldora and Waverly were showing signs of heat stress although I'm sure the top is being taken off due to the dry July.
The majority of the bean fields were weed free. A few fields had a minor amount of volunteer corn. No wonder kids today never walk beans.
