Jamie Pollard interview

HERE is a podcast interview of Jamie. This link is on Spotify, but it is also on Apple as well. The podcast is BachelorForeLife. The guy Alex, that does the podcast is from Story City, and he mostly just talks about sports, but also interviews local people. I think he got this interview through a mutual connection.

His local interviews are actually pretty interesting. He is not a professional by any means, but he does a great job just asking good questions to a local fireman about what they really do, or a foreign exchange student, or a local principal turned minister. Just getting into the details of what just regular people do.

In Jamie's interview, it is wild because it is not a discussion, it is just a list of questions that are all scattershot. A real radio interview professional might weave the questions together, but this is left field, right field, bunt, single up the middle. All over the place. But all good questions.

No breaking news, but some interesting stuff that I didn't know. Like why the campground is gravelled and not paved. Also some discussions about how you go about hiring and firing a coach. About a 25 minute interview at regular speed (I listen to my podcasts at 1.4x)

Saturday's TV ratings

Our game with WVU did not fare too well. I get we were going against some big dogs. But we need more eyeballs.
Saturday night:
Ohio State/Oregon 9.6MM NBC
Mississippi/LSU 4.2MM ABC
UF/UT 3.3MM ESPN
ISU/WVU 1.2MM FOX
Wazzou/Fresno 250K FS1

Our game was compelling for awhile, but if we want TV dollars for our conference, this needs to change. When an ESPN game is almost tripling up a over the air network.... Yikes. We didn't have competition from a conference mate either. Conference fans need to watch conference games. Though Colorado still is attracting eyeballs. Over 3 million for KSU/CU at 10:15PM ET is pretty darn good.

Updated Bowl Projections--we now have a Boise State thorn in our side

Bonagura: No. 10 Iowa State at No. 7 Georgia
Schlabach: No. 10 Iowa State at No. 7 Penn State

Dropped a tad from last week when Schlabach had us as an automatic (at #4).

BUT, beyond that, Bonagura now has Boise State out of the Mountain West as the fourth automatic conference championship qualifier...leaving the Big 12 without an automatic.

So, might want to keep an eye on the Broncos (bye this week) the rest of the way...

We Will donor match to $60k

A generous Cyclone is matching any dollars raised up to $60,000 through the end of the month. Every bit helps to celebrate this group and keep the good times rolling! We still get a lot of pushback from folks who don’t think we can compete in this era, so hopefully now is the time they will see the impact and invest.

Tip of the hat to Rocco F'N Becht

18/26, 69.2 pct, 265 yds, 1 TD, QBR 167.5

Second shout out to the OL for making this possible along with the very decent run blocking. Third to the defense for keeping a very good rushing team in check tonight with a MASH unit. Great Cyclone win right there boys! And my man Carsen Hansen. One tough SOB. Looked exhausted at the end.

More Neal Brown heat

Apparently, West Virginia fans are even more fed up with Brown after Monday's press conference where he was asked why fans should continue to show up to games in light of their disappointing showings in signature-type games. His answer?

"I get that they [fans] want to win," Brown said. "But what I would say is -- did they have a good time? Did they enjoy it? It was a pretty good atmosphere. I'm assuming they had a pretty good time tailgating, so if they're in the deal for enjoyment then I would come back ... We need 'em to provide a home-field advantage. We need 'em.

"I get they're frustrated that we didn't win," Brown continued. "We've played a tough schedule. Everybody that's beat us hasn't lost. But that's no excuse, that's just the truth, and the games in our league are going to come down to the fourth quarter, and I don't think this one on Saturday is going to be any different. We need 'em to help us."

The reason they're fed up and didn't like this answer was because he never mentioned the fact that they are still 2-1 in conference play and they have a chance to still play in the conference title game if they can win out, and to win out, they need all the fan support they can muster, especially this weekend when they face Kansas State. Fans seem to think the answer he gave instead shows he's given up on this team.

T Hunter now at Memphis? I Totally Missed That!

(From the CBS Sports Lin below) - After tours at Iowa State and Texas, Hunter remains a high-major talent who is yet again at a high-major program, albeit one that's now occupied in a mid-major-plus league. He provided 11. points, 4.1 assists, 2.9 rebounds for Texas last season. Now he'll run the show for Penny Hardaway's Tigers. Hunter's defensive potential is what makes him stand out. The jump shot has been the biggest inconsistency, but everything else is really good.
