Linebackers

I went through the roster and I think the following is pretty accurate, but I probably missed something or someone.

Injured and out for year or extended time: Carson Willich, Will McLaughlin, Caleb Bacon, Jack Sadowsky, John Klosterman*

Playing: Cooper Ebel, Jacob Ellis, Cael Brezina**, Zach Lovett, Jacob Imming, Rylan Barnes*, Beau Goodwin**

Roster, but not yet playing: Nick Reinicke, Danny Inglis, Alec Cook, Lance McShane, Mason Miller

*=Walkon
**= injured, but game to game.

This was a young, developing room to begin with. It is extremely young - and thin. It keeps me from getting my hopes too high. It is, and will be, a group under extreme duress. It won't be a group that doesn't play hard. It likely will be a group that makes mistakes in assignment and fundamentals, but will continue to grow. Think about this; 4 of the 5 long-term injured were projected starters, returning starters or both and all but Klosterman would have been in the 2-deep rotation with Ebel and Brezina.

Amazing patch work by the staff.

Injuries

Does anyone know anything about Klotz? I had not heard he was injured until he was not playing last night and during the broadcast they didn't say anything about what the injury was. Any info that I have missed?

I also noticed last night during the game that Rocco appeared to have KT tape on this throwing arm. It looks like it was re-applied at halftime. I went back and watched film from Arkansas State and he is not wearing tape in that game, and on his TD throw at the end of the 2nd quarter where he takes a shot he does get up grabbing his shoulder. But that may have explained his poor accuracy last night, as it was significantly below the level that he has shown he normally has. Hopeful that he is able to get through it soon if he is indeed a bit banged up, because we need him playing his best this year.

This Baylor game scares me...

Maybe I have PTSD from being a Cyclone fan my entire life, but I have a bad feeling about this Baylor game. After listening to Aranda's press conference it sounds like Baylor feels their backs are against the wall in a make or break moment. He also said they got back quite a few players from injury this week. I think the team we are going to get Saturday is better than the one that shoulve beat Colorado and BYU and they are extremely motivated. Add that to our injuries at LB and everybody talking about how great we are... this is setting up for a major letdown. I have seen this too many times before. I will be wearing my nut cup Saturday night. I think you better wear yours, too.
