Spent the Day in North Carolina

At my son’s place and went to the ECU-Tulsa ballgame. Let me say that ECU has a very nice stadium and a much better press box than we have at Trice. It holds 51,000 and is the second largest stadium in the state.

Ticket sales for the game listed at about 30,000, but I’d be surprised if 15,000 attended. Given the fact that ECU has only won two games all season, the interest has obviously waned. But there was no buzz in the stadium. Maybe the most interesting thing was the lone seagull that circled the field as the game was winding down, landing on the grass a few times.

FYI, ECU had a one point lead and got a stop on 4th down deep in Tulsa territory with 2 minutes to play. Then they screw up their first play from scrimmage and fumbled, giving Tulsa the ball back. The Hurricanes drove about 50 (aided by some weird calls by the refs) and kicked the winning FG as time expired.

My son said it’s been that kind of a year after going bowling last year. Sound familiar??

B’ball vs A&M

I may be one of the few that has a decent feeling about the game. I think we will see a pretty competitive cyclone team that had a few days to digest that this won’t be a walk in the park. They came into Orlando with a lot of confidence and probably felt unbeatable with all the praise they have been getting. They finally got a dose of some reality. CTJO will use this as a learning experience. This is literally their first experience of losing together. From Bahamas til up to now they have not experienced a bloody nose.

I am an Idiot.

Against all my moral fiber, I watched the second half of the hok/ bugeater game.

I am a sinner.
Asking for forgiveness.

I did prove beyond all doubt that--

Chubba is no Brock Purdy.

That B1G football is atrocious.

Iowa fans are undescribably ugly.
The most grotesque of all fandoms.
My momma would have slapped me IF I brought one home.

I feel dirty.
Maybe as disappointed in myself as I have ever been.

Yes. The other games sucked.
But that is no excuse.
Dropping fifty pound weights on my feet would have been more fulfilling.

Worse yet, I found myself rooting for the Bugeaters.
Even as despicable as Ruhle and that gang are.
My hok hatred runs that deep.

May the Lord Have Mercy on My Soul.

Secret squirrel

Went to a HS boys game with secret squirrel - a person well connected to the ISU program- to watch Pewaukee vs New Berlin Eisenhower. The idea was to watch Milan Momcilovic, an incoming recruit, play. Milan is terrific. Has a younger brother who starts and is a mirror image. But Pewaukee has a junior PG, Nick Janowski, 6'4" who is fantastic. Had 25 points last night and 6 assists. I spoke to their coach before the game and said I couldn't speak for ISU but I'd love to see this kid at Ames. He laughed and agreed. Kid is awesome. Interesting note, Pewaukee head coach was a teammate of TJ in AAU.
