Hiring, or being hired, is all about fit. The issue is definition of "fit." Some employers/employees look for perfect alignment. Others look for ability to produce and results.

When I was first hired as a social studies teacher, the Superintendent was an old school guy. But he told me he tried to hire divergent types to help students with divergent learning styles. In my subsequent 45 years in education the best school systems hired this way. The shakier ones hired Superintendent or Principal mini-he's.

Today marks the coldest day of the year on average. That means we can expect better temps as we slowly exit another Iowa winter season.

This is always a big milestone for me. If you live in other parts of Iowa, your coldest day may vary by a day or two. I wouldn't get out the clubs just yet, but its okay to check out that new driver you've been thinking about.

The finances at the U of AZ (athletic & general fund) are a mess and now the AD has been whacked right after he hired his new football coach. I suspect the Prez is going to get quit in the the future. Tire fire.

Sounds like K state is going to be without their big gun Aoka Lee for up to 4 weeks. Broken bone in her ankle that required surgery. This is significant because K-State is undefeated in conference play to date and we have our first game with them in 3 weeks,

Can someone refresh my memory if how he got to ISU and why he left. I know it was Prohm era. Did he come in after a leg break in high school, was it another reason he never played

if I gambled. Thankfully I don't and thankfully the guys played a helluva game. I couldn't be happier to see Watson having an impact on games. I had a chance to visit with him and his mom at breakfast last year in KC. I hope he stays at ISU and continues developing....the last several games from him have showed me he has a role and has accepted it. The difference in his defense from last year to present is damn impressive. No need to rehash the game. Obviously this is a big week.

We underperformed against TCU. He had us a 3 point favorites.
We are dogs in only 2 remaining games. At Baylor and at Houston. Despite what the computer says, I'm not predicting 11-2 the rest of the way.....

Easy street coming up. Of the remaining 13 games, our next 2 games are our 2nd and 3rd easiest remaining games. Yes, believe it or not, Kansas at home is our 3rd easiest remaining game. (according to his rankings) Home with WVU is our easiest remaining game.

Our best game was a 55 point win over Grambling. Our worst game was a 9 point lost to Virginia Tech..

Here's the full scoop from Isaiah Alston on his decision to join the Cyclones. As you all could tell, I was pretty confident in this one, and I've been sitting on this story for about a week now until everything was firmed up with ISU Admissions. Nice addition for CMC & company.
