BASKETBALL ***RELEASE: Iowa State Opens Maui Invitational with Auburn***

MAUI, Hawaii – Iowa State will face Auburn on Monday, Nov. 25 in the opening round of the Maui Invitational at the historic Lahaina Civic Center in Maui. Both teams are consensus top 15 teams heading into the 2024-25 season.

Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. central, with the game airing on ESPNU. North Carolina and Dayton are the other two teams on Iowa State's half of the bracket. The semifinal game is slated for Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 5 p.m. central on ESPN, while the consolation game is set for 2:30 p.m. central on ESPNU.

The Cyclones are 2-2 all-time against Auburn, splitting a pair of neutral court games in 1986 and 2000, while each team won on its home floor in 2013 and 2020. The Tigers are coming off a 27-8 season last year, where they won the SEC Tournament before falling to Yale in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Iowa State is 2-3 all-time against North Carolina, having beaten the Tar Heels in each of the last two meetings in the 2014 NCAA Tournament and 2022 PKI Semifinals. The Cyclones are 2-0 all-time against Dayton, picking up wins in 1987 and 1988.

Other games on opening day in Maui include Memphis facing two-time defending National Champion UConn and Colorado facing Michigan State. All 12 games of the Maui Invitational will be televised on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU, and also be available on the ESPN app.

Iowa State is 3-3 all-time in the Maui Invitational, participating in 1990 and 2018. The Cyclones own wins over Chaminade (1990), Illinois (2018) and San Diego State (2018) in the tournament.
