AMES, Iowa - A pair of Iowa State men's basketball players have earned preseason honors from Blue Ribbon Basketball Yearbook. Tamin Lipsey and Keshon Gilbert were each named to the five player All-Big 12 Preseason Team, while Lipsey was named a Third Team Preseason All-American. The Cyclones were picked to finish second in the league behind Kansas.

The pair were each named All-Big 12 last season, with Lipsey being named to the first team and Gilbert to the second team. Lipsey and Gilbert, along with Milan Momcilovic were named to the Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team, where Gilbert was named the MVP as the Cyclones won the title for the fifth time in the last 10 years.

Only four players in the country averaged at least 12.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game last season, with Lipsey and Gilbert accounting for two of the four. They were the first duo in NCAA Division I Men's Basketball history to each average those numbers in the same season.

Iowa State opens the 2024-25 campaign Nov. 4 at Hilton Coliseum against Mississippi Valley State.

Somewhat disappointing but not totally unsurprising news. I think the booster/not booster distinction is silly but I think limits on true NIL is important. If it goes to trial, gives life to the super-league idea involving most of the P4 as I could see the NCAA going under financially. Judge clearly not in favor of the notion of college sports.
