I am a bit hesitant to go. Coach Campbell's propensity to ultra-conservative spring games, scrimmages, etc., I wonder if it will be worth it?

I would think Jamie wants to gin up some excitement for football after the last 2 disappointing seasons. But that isn't Matt Campbell's motivation.

Spring games are relics, perhaps, to begin with. But we are not even trying, that I can see, to promote it. First, starting at 11:00 a.m. is a buzz kill right out of the bag. Secondly, for me, it is being referred to as a practice, not even a scrimmage. I remember the last CGC practice I went to. It was a glorified warm-up session.

I know Spring games are not games. But they are, or use to be, football. A time when we got to see the youngsters play, the veterans ready to step up. ISU seems to not embrace that.

What are other, less grumpy, people's expectations of the Spring "game?"
