Back in my coaching days, I came across 2 men coaching at Fort Dodge St. Edmonds. I found out today that both were WWII vets.

John Muholland was the CC coach. He was known as Jock. And he was a runner. When he turned 50, he won the senior mile at the Dodger relays with a time right around 4:45.

Richard (Dick) Weidenfield was the boys basketball coach. I never coached against him directly, but as an assistant I was around him at clinics, state tournaments and when they played Garrigan. He had some really good teams at St. Eds.

Mega kudos to these real heroes.
