Before last night, I had never heard the story about Tony Bennett calling Tyrese Hunter after TJ was hired.
He told Hunter to stick with his commitment to Iowa State, because TJ is a good coach and great man.
Something along those lines.
I didn’t realize the connection until reading this from AP’s story.
“Hunter played for Nick Bennett at St. Catherine’s High School. Bennett is the cousin of Virginia coach Tony Bennett and the nephew of former Wisconsin coach Dick Bennett. Tony and Dick also were a big influence on Otzelberger’s coaching career.”
