I realize that there is a perception that Iowa State lives and dies by the three. I don't think that's accurate, but the three point threat is required to spread the floor and open up the interior where we can do quite a bit of damage. The important point here is that our percentage may not always be that good, but nearly everyone is a threat from outside the line.
What I worry about is that you have to hit some of those shots to keep defenses honest. I get nervous in these massive NCAA venues that three point shots are even harder with the open and often strange background. Many of these venues were not meant to host basketball. Are there any stats that show if there is any difference in three point shooting percentage in these big venues? I suppose it depends on the venue and the configuration, so one answer may not apply to all venues.
