So I was up for the first two games from TN and told my wife that we Had to beat UNI and win at least one of two vs. Iowa and Toledo.

I had a different take on the Iowa game. One we came out flat vs. Iowa in the 2nd half which was inexcusable, and two the play calling in the second half of Iowa was horrible. I'm a MM fan but I didn't know what he was smoking attacking the sidelines the entire second half. I thought he called a better game last night but not having a clear plan after the penalty and not Spotting the ball at midfield was astonishing.

The running game was much better. The 2nd quarter fumble and the missed FG cost us being 2-1 and soon 3-1 with KS coming up.

I woke up this morning knowing that a coaching change will cost us talent from kids that will transfer out or decommit ( it always happens after a change) not to mention learning a new offensive system, new defensive system and losses probable next year because of a 1-2 year learning curve, with a new coach.

Hiring a New coach right now makes zero sense from sheer supply/ demand. Either way, coaching change or not, we are in for a wild ride and the thing I loved early about CPR was that he would not likely skip town at the first opportunity since he is an Iowan. He was our long term guy we needed. We probably will never find a better long term fit for ISU, but you gotta win these games and this looks like a team that doesn't know how to close out games and have a killer mentality.

I've never felt so empty about our future at ISU as I do now.
