I posted a thread in the middle of football season when we were ranked in the top 10, as were the men's and women's basketball teams and the wrestling team, speculating on whether this could be a championship season for one or all of them. My how things have changed. The only team that came close to living up to that lofty expectation was the football team, which at least played in a championship game.
The injury bug played the biggest role in the disappointment, for the most part, but maybe there were some unreasonable expectations, or over-rating in the polls going on, too. All four teams suffered from injuries, but they had the biggest impact on the three men's teams, IMO. I'm not sure the women would have done any better if Hare had played the whole season. The football team was able to overcome those injuries better than the other two, but I have to believe they still had an impact on the season when you lose your top three LBs and several of their backups.
Good thing I keep a good supply of nut cups on hand, is all I can say, because we sure needed them this year.
