The criticism was almost universal when the new secondary logo, often referred to as the bugle logo, got unveiled on the football helmets for the Texas game a few years ago. And it was a bad look on those helmets. The cardinal on cardinal just didn't work. Maybe nothing would have on the helmet.
Things turned around for me when I was looking for a yellow shirt to wear under a pullover. The only thing I found had the new secondary logo, but I thought what the heck, nobody will see it anyway. And I came to really like it on that shirt. Then the wrestling team used it and it was just fine or even a better alternative than the primary logo.
Today, I'm watching the gymnastics meet and the secondary logo really shines. It is a sparkly version of the logo on black uniforms. It looks awesome. The primary logo just would not work as well in this instance.
