A nice morning rain in Ames. We got about 1/2 inch in the last hour. It looks like the heavy stuff has passed through, so might not get much more in this system, but it sounds like there may be more in store this weekend. Much needed.
I think we need it more in Cedar Rapids. Unfortunately this first wave looks like it's going north. The lawn could use a drink. I came back from Ames last weekend after about a 10 day stay. The lawn was in need of a haircut in shady places. So I start up the mower but it would stall out when I tried to throttle up. I didn't have time to mess with it, so I called the dealer to come pick it up and service it. They picked it up Thursday morning and I may not get it back for a week to ten days. We got a little rain mid-week which probably held off some areas from going dormant. If we get some rain this weekend, the lawn is going to be looking pretty shaggy by the time I get it back.
