I thought Jake Hummel played a whale of a game. He was the second leading tackler behind Rose's 10 with 9. He had a TFL too. Not bad for the "third best LB."
I was also pleased with true freshman Daniel Jackson's contribution. He only caught 2 passes, but he was only targeted twice, too. Maybe he can step up more as the season goes along and provide another sorely needed option in the passing game.

I was surprised I saw Darrel Simmons playing a lot of snaps at center. I thought Schweiger was playing center. Did he get injured or was he just pulled because of ineffective play?
Purdy needs to go back to having fun. That "fumble" was the worst play I've seen out of an Iowa State QB in a long, long time and that's saying something given our long, sad history of bad QB play. Not a play you'd expect a seasoned 2-plus year starer to make. He's kind of been sucking it up both games now.
