Issac Asuma was a freshman point guard for Minnesota this past season. Got a lot of valuable playing time due to the gophers not being very good. We were in on his recruitment and had an offer, but I believe we cooled after the Pierce commitment and Asuma committed to the gophers. Then Pierce lasted as long as a breath mint or two, so we missed out. Asuma looked pretty decent this season. In fact we could really could have used him now given our injury situation.
Now Johnson is out at Minny, a program that has been rather snake bitten with transfers in recent years. Any chance we could pick up Asuma in the transfer portal? He seems like he could be a good backup/heir apparent to Lipsey.
